First thing which I am going to mention and the most beautiful part which I felt is the setting of the Denmark Tavern. The sorroundings of the Tavern is very neat and clean. The beauty lies as the River Ganga flows through the edge of the Tavern and there is a small and a narrow park through the riverside and infront of the Tavern. The Tavern has been very beautifully renovated and the history of its grandeur architecture has been restored successful. Inside of it is offcourse very beautiful decorated keeping in my mind the age and culture of the structure. Till now it has only fooding facility. The Park manages the fooding as well as the internal maintenance of the Tavern. The staff I must say is very warm and welcoming and the best part of it is that they invite their guests and take them across the the building and showcases the Tavern's splendid internal architecture. The Tavern is a two storeyed building and the floor above the dinning hall has two big rooms packed with Danish furniture , a long verendah and offcourse a very beautiful balcony where you spend the whole day sitting there and seeing the beautiful River Ganga calmy flowing infront of you. But the sad part is that the lodging has still not started but it is expected to start very soon. Now coming back to the food quality I must say that the quality of the food is ordinary and not at all impressive. And one more I want to mention to you guys that there is no Danish cuisine available here so do not expect something new from this place with respect to food. The main cuisine served here is Indian. So that's it guys if you want a change during a weekend you could definitely visit this place as there are some different experiences here. Apart from the Tavern there are a few places to see closely located which is the St. Olav's Church, it is a beautiful church and is a really big one. The church also belong to the Danish community which is evident from its structure. The church is also very beautiful renovated by the Government of West Bengal and I would suggest that not to miss this place if you visit the the Denmark Tavern. There are also lots of old buildings there and truly you will love this place. So please do visit it if u want to experience something new or...

Detailed: (Jul 2021)This is a great place for a single night stay. The property is very good with a rich legacy which is more than 200 years old. They have large rooms (colonial style). Location: The tavern is located bang on the banks of Hooghly and has a commanding view of the river. Reaching the property is slightly tricky as one has to navigate through crowded and narrow city lanes in a couple of places to reach. More challenging if you have a big vehicle and don't know Bengali. Construction: The rooms are well appointed and they have the typical European construction with high ceilings and large windows which were originally designed to give airy and well-lit ambience. Though now, they are lit with Led Lamps and fully air-conditioned. Furniture is befitting the ambience and bathrooms are large and well-maintained. Some of the sanitary ware in the bathrooms is from Denmark. Service : The place is under-staffed. This might of course be due to the pandemic situation and low occupancy. But service is ok, no cause for complaints. F&B: The in-house restaurant is nice. They serve limited items but everything that you will need. You will not be disappointed. The chef's strength are the Indian and specially North-Indian dishes which have gravy. The Danish Pastry was good as well. But did not like the other Danish items, which is a personal verdict as I might not have the taste for appreciating it. The Tavern has been renovated in 2018 and the reason why it is still well maintained in 2021 is because of inherently low footfalls and lack of guests for the last 15 months due to pandemic. But it's very clear that the property is on a downward spiral. If you want to taste the hospitality and experience then the sooner you visit the better it is. The one time renovation has of course been made possible by generous grant from Danish Government. But the upkeep and maintenance of such an exotic property needs big money. And the property is not generating enough business to make it possible. It's bleeding at the operating level. The property is owned by WB Govt but operations have been outsourced to the Park Hotel Group.
