Manager Moovendhan kindly take proper hotel management & customer service training and then join as manager again. Very rude behaviour and unwanted rude words was spoken to me! He asked âAre you asking for the dish discount after looking at the bill total?â First of all we ordered after seeing the menu and the pricing. Secondly we (only 2 people) ordered many dishes for 2000 Rs because we do not care about the money, we only care about good food & taste. We asked for discount ONLY for one dish which left us 100% dissatisfied because of the portion size and taste. Why would we pay when we have 0% satisfaction for the food?
Forcefully taking money from customers which does not belong to you is very cheap. Moovendhan is happy to lose customers than retaining customer satisfaction and loyalty!
I recently visited Thenmanam restaurant with high expectations, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The taste of the food, especially the non-vegetarian dishes, was less than okay â nothing special or memorable. Very watery kurma, watery gravy - not thick! Sweet was over, they did not even inform sweet was over and kept their mouth shut. When we asked for the sweet which was mentioned in the menu, with a very sour bitter face the staff went inside and brought one DRY spoon of sweet which was stuck to the bottom of the pan.
The non veg thalis available- only two tiny pieces bone meat + watery gravy provided, fish kulambu was watery, mutton chicken gravy was very very watery. Must be a little thick atleast. No meat provided for fish curry and no meat for chicken curry - only watery gravy provided!! Whatever non veg thali you order. Example mutton - you get two small mutton pieces, only watery gravy and veg items. No other meat provided! For this we can order veg thali itself right? When people prefer non veg thali you provide them with decent meat size portion and not disappoint customers with no meat at all when they order non veg! This is a simple thing! For the price, the quality is poor! the portion sizes were shockingly small, leaving us feeling unsatisfied.
No coordination between staffs: we asked for one extra egg and cancelled it. First, they brought two extra boiled eggs. And then we said we donât want it. But still they ended up adding to the bill.
Moreover, the service was highly unprofessional. The manager Mr Moovendhan seemed disinterested and inattentive, making us feel unwelcome when we brought the portion size to his attention. He also left a few unnecessary words which hurt us which an educated person will not do!. I guess if he passed his exam and got hired the right way or through some fraudulent certificates and referral! Simple requests took far too long to fulfill, and the overall atmosphere lacked the warmth and professionalism youâd expect from a restaurant.
Out of the many dishes we ordered, we asked for discount only for one dish which was mutton fry whose portion size was very small, was served cold, (most of the dishes are being served cold here!) but The manager denied discount, after washing our hands, he bought one spoon of mutton in a plate (so disrespectful) and threw it on the table! We said we already ate! We are dissatisfied, give us the refund for that one dish.! He said he cannot!
Given the hype, I expected better quality in both the food and service. Sadly, neither lived up to the mark. If you aim to attract and retain customers, you need to work on improving the quality, portions, and overall hospitality. At this point, I wouldnât recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying and pleasant dining experience. THENMANAM RUINED OUR DAY!!!
Moovendhan ruined our mood and made the day bad! Instead of speaking politely, he left unnecessary words!!! Never going back to Thenmanam again, I posted this review in all of my family groups on WhatsApp, Facebook and everywhere. You guys also screenshot this and keep on sharing.
The manager Mr Moovendhan lacked communication, problem-solving, empathy, and knowledge of...
Read moreFirst off, I want to share my honest feedback for anyone planning to visit THENMANAM Restaurant. I know many of you might be tempted to check out this place after watching Instagram or Facebook reels, and this review is especially for you. This is my personal experience and recommendationâdonât fall for the hype.
When you enter the restaurant, they display all the starters and main courses in front of you. Youâre expected to choose what you want from this display menu and order them separately. Now hereâs the catch: whatever quantity they show you in the display is NOT what youâll actually get. The portions are shockingly smallâhardly 100â120 gramsâwhich isnât even close to sufficient. On top of that, each dish is priced between âš300â400.
If youâre coming here thinking you can try all the starters you see in the reels at a reasonable price, youâre in for a shock. To taste all the starters and main courses they display, youâll end up spending anywhere between âš5,000 to âš8,000.
I personally ordered the non-veg mutton thali, and let me tell you, it was a huge disappointment. The curry was watery and tasteless. They claim the thali is unlimited, but when you ask for more curry, theyâll only serve you gravyâno pieces of meat. For fish or mutton curries, they donât give you any pieces at all, just gravy. I mean, who orders an unlimited thali just to eat gravy?
They also offer a dessert with the thali, but when we asked for a little extra, they flat-out said itâs limited and they can only serve it once. Talk about false promises.
On top of that, I ordered the mutton pepper fry, which cost âš320. You wonât believe itâit had hardly any pieces, barely 70 grams of meat. When I raised the issue and asked for a refund due to the poor quantity, the manager, MOOVENDHAN, was completely indifferent. Instead of addressing our concerns, he made a disgusting comment like, âDid you ask for a discount after seeing the bill total?â
This kind of attitude was appalling. Instead of treating customers with respect, he said, âWe get so many customers daily, and you can leave if you donât want to come back.â It felt like a racial comment and was absolutely disrespectful. Customer service should be their top priority, but here, they seem to think customers are disposable.
And hereâs another shady practiceâwhen I simply asked about the cost of an extra egg, they added it to my bill without even serving it. Later, when I told them I didnât get it, they argued. This kind of behavior is unacceptable.
For anyone considering visiting this place because of Instagram influencers, hereâs my advice: donât waste your time or money. Influencers wonât tell you the real story because theyâre paid to promote these places. What you see in their reels is far from reality. Youâll leave this restaurant feeling dissatisfied and cheated.
Save yourself the trouble and avoid THENMANAM Restaurant...
Read moreHonest Review: Disappointing Management, Decent Food â Mixed Experience on 25th May 2025
Before diving into the food review, I feel itâs important to address a major concern with the overall experience, the management and customer handling.
We had called the restaurant two days in advance for reserving a table. The response was clear: âNo reservations, walk-in only.â Fair enough. But when we arrived at 1:00 PM, we were told the wait time was 45 minutes. What followed was a frustrating 1.5-hour wait, with no real clarity or fairness in seat allocation.
The reason? A private group of nearly 50 people had informally taken over the dining area. As soon as one batch finished eating, others from the same group took their place, a relay of guests that went on until nearly 3:30 PM. When we questioned the approach, the staff simply said: âItâs the ownerâs call, we canât help it.â
While I respect the owner's discretion, what disappointed me was the lack of transparency. If the restaurant was largely reserved for a family gathering, why not close the walk-ins or at least inform arriving guests upfront? It would have saved a lot of frustration. Poor planning, zero communication, and a lack of respect.
Now, Coming to the Food:
â Must-Try Dishes:
Brain Fry. Rice with Rasam â Simple but excellent. Crispy Prawn Fry â Crunchy and well-seasoned. Chicken Wings â Juicy and flavorful. Great texture.
đ Good Choices:
White Sauce Prawns â Creamy and enjoyable. Chicken Lollipop. Crab Lollipop. Vanjaram Fry. Fish Fingers.
đ Can Be Skipped:
Prawn Thokku â Overcooked and rubbery. Squid - overcooked and rubbery. Pichi Potta Kozhi Varuval â Lacked punch. Chicken and Mutton Biryani â Just average;
đ What Needs Improvement:
Customer Management â No customer should be left waiting for 90+ minutes with zero accountability.
Space Constraints â The seating was extremely cramped, making it uncomfortable, especially during peak hours.
đ What We Appreciated:
Table Service â Once seated, the service was impressively prompt and well-coordinated.
Staff Friendliness â Warm and polite team members tried their best within their limits.
Serving Speed â Dishes came out fast and efficiently.
Value for Money â Reasonable pricing considering the variety and portions.
đ Final Verdict:
This restaurant has few excellent dishes and a friendly team, but the experience was soured by poor crowd management and lack of respect for customersâ time. But for now, Iâd call it a hit-or-miss spot--go on a weekday, or be prepared to wait... and wait.
â Overall...
