Ambar is not just a restaurant, it’s an experience that captivates all the senses from the very first moment. Perched above lush greenery with panoramic views, it’s the perfect place to enjoy an unforgettable sunset or an elegant evening under the stars.
From the moment we arrived, the service was flawless. Τhe staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and responsive to every request. Despite being a refined venue, Ambar is surprisingly baby-friendly. Although there wasn’t a dedicated changing table, the team immediately offered a helpful alternative solution, showing true hospitality and care.
The cocktails simply world-class. Crafted with precision and creativity, each drink was a celebration of flavor and presentation. The live music added the perfect touch, smooth, soulful, and perfectly in sync with the ambiance, enhancing the already dreamlike atmosphere.
The cuisine was a standout: high-end Japan-fusion gastronomy with delicate flavors, impeccable technique, and visually stunning plating. Each dish felt like a carefully composed piece of art, both exciting and deeply satisfying.
Even the restrooms deserve a mention. A testament to detail and design. Outfitted with Japanese-style high-tech toilets (think heated seats and warm-water cleansing functions) and located next to a serene waterfall, even a visit to the bathroom becomes a tranquil moment of luxury.

The stories circulating online about a breathtaking café-restaurant in the heart of Ubud’s paradise? Well, let me tell you—every single word is true.
From the very moment we arrived, the experience felt like something straight out of a movie. Even the entrance to the parking area was cinematic, setting the tone for what was to come.
Every step from the gate, through the parking lot, the warm welcome, and all the way to our table was met with the most genuine smiles and exceptional hospitality. The staff exuded kindness, making us feel valued and truly special.
Once seated, we were treated like royalty—a level of service that, let’s be honest, is never a bad thing!
And then, the food… simply phenomenal. A feast for both the eyes and the palate. Every bite was an explosion of flavors, carefully crafted to highlight the finesse of its ingredients. Hats off to the chef—what an extraordinary talent!
During our dinner, the manager took the time to share the story of Ambar, revealing that it’s more than just a fine dining experience; it’s part of a stunning resort. Hearing about its history and vision made the evening even more special.
A special shoutout to Agus, our incredible host, who ensured we were well taken care of throughout the night. His attentiveness and warmth made our experience truly unforgettable.
If you plan on dining here, take my advice—visit in the afternoon or, even better, during sunset. That’s when the breathtaking valley and lush nature surrounding Ambar are at their most magical. An...
Read moreThe location, views and ambience were terrific, and the staff were very attentive and helpful. We started off with cocktails on the terrace overlooking the valley, fabulous. We them moved inside for dinner, where a really good jazz band were playing. For starters we had tuna tartare which was delicious, and sashimi which was OK but nothing special. Raw fish is raw fish, not much they could do with that I suppose.
For mains unless you wanted sushi (we didn't!) the selection was pretty limited, so we both went for the Ramen, big mistake. It was served in lovely bowls with some extra stock added at the table with a flourish by the waiter. However none of that could hide the fact that at the end of the day it was just a bowl of noodles, no better than you would get at a warung for literally 1/10th of the price. The thinly sliced wagyu beef was nice, but the soup base was too salty and the noodles were dried not fresh, and might as well have been Indomie. There were a few pieces of pak choy, shitake mushrooms and nori, and that was it. That's all you get for 350k. I know you pay for "the experience" at a place like this, but for that price I expected something a lot more special than that. If I was rating just the food it would be 1 or 2 stars.
So my advice - go to Ambar for the cocktails, go somewhere else if you want top...
