This review is based on our experience and we’re happy that people do love it here, but unfortunately for us this was not the case and it did not live up to the current reviews. My husband and I were supposed to stay here for 8 nights during Valentine’s Day for a romantic getaway and we left early after 5 nights. Before choosing to stay, you really need to think about whether or not you want to be fully immersed in nature and its wildlife, and we mean FULLY. This area is not quiet, contrary to other reviews, especially if you have a rice fields view villa as they are located along the small road. You will hear the roosters in the early morning hours, dogs barking and mopeds/bikes. Another noise issue we had was from the neighboring villas, they played extremely loud music every Thursday and Monday evening until 10-11pm, this in particular was very annoying. Another negative is the constant burning of things by people in the nearby area, we struggled with the smoke smell every morning and some evenings. The outdoor bathroom may appear luxurious when you see the photos of the stones and plants, but the novelty wore off very quickly when we realized that it is not practical and just simply not comfortable. You will be going to the bathroom with geckos, mosquitoes, flies, snails and ants everywhere (this is not an exaggeration). We are from Florida so we are used to these animals and insects, but if you’re not used to them or are scared of them, it is not recommended. The outdoor toilet is also not comfortable when it is so hot and humid, also when there is smoke outside. When it rains, the toilet gets completely wet. Now we understand the noise of others, the wildlife and the burning is no fault of the resort. However, they should really invest in proper pest control, having air tight doors, sealing up holes in the roof and more soundproofing in the bedroom. All these things would make it more comfortable and at the very least tolerable. We were only provided with only 2 x 330ml glass bottles of water per day, after that you are charged 6,000 IDR for a VERY small bottle. The tap water here is not drinkable. We had to go to the supermarket every other day to carry 8 liters of water back with us. For a 4 star resort in a place that is so hot, this is simply not acceptable. The final straw was the rat in our room. We noticed it at 3am on our 3rd night, at this time nothing could be done by staff. By the 4th night, we guess the rat had decided to make our roof its home and it did not resurface until 11pm, which again was too late for anything to be done. We had to stay a 5th night to organize a new place to go to, but even that night we had a gecko in our room. Thankfully, we got a refund for the 3 remaining nights we did not stay because of sending photo and video evidence of the...
Read moreWe just had 8 lovely nights in a pool villa facing the rice padi fields, private and quiet, a welcome retreat from the busy Ubud streets. The pool, while cool to enter, provided a refreshing swim each day. The sunrises were excellent to watch each morning. The unit was spacious and comfortable.||The resort's food was excellent and we loved having breakfast delivered to our outdoor table, overlooking the private garden, pool and padi fields each day (no extra cost). We also had dinners at our outdoor table most nights, with their menu having a good mix of local and western choices, and at a reasonable cost. ||The staff were wonderful, friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Desak and Swadarma. We hired the resort's car for an enjoyable one-day tour in northern Bali, to 3 specific places which were beautiful (Bratan Temple, Banyumala waterfall, Jatiluwih rice terraces), and also for a taxi, and Swadarma was a safe driver and very helpful. The private tour enables flexibility, and the resort also has a range of other one day tours.||The resort location is about 200-300m from their Drop Zone (located on the main road), down a concrete track, and the resort uses a golf cart buggy as transport (or we could walk). It's a very efficient service to their Drop Zone. While the Grab taxis we used had no problem with pick up/drop off, two arranged tours did find it hard to locate as there is another similar drop zone for nearby resorts. Maybe a sign pointing to the resort's Drop Zone would help.||We would look to come back here again, it's a very relaxing and...
