After weeks of wanting to visit Matcha Cafe due to their Instagram page, we finally managed to visit.
I have to say I was a touch disappointed. The staff were okay, but my husband and I didn’t feel very welcomed or really that there was any sort of atmosphere in this place.
The drinks we had were delicious and that was lovely. The famed Matcha Soft Serve wasn’t as great as I’d hoped - I love a Matcha everything so was a little disappointed in the soft serve.
Mainly I think the environmental and physical aspect of the venue was the thing that bugged me the most. The cafe is located on a very busy road. The cafe is also now surrounded by multiple construction noises and buildings going on. The noise is not great, and definitely makes the visit, not a restful or enjoyable one.
I’m aware that the cafe has nothing to do with the construction, but we also found that the cafe itself wasn’t that clean or well kept I should say. It could do with some love and cleaning.
Glad we stopped by for a visit, but somewhat disappointed. We’ll try again in the future once the construction has died down. Maybe we caught it...
Read moreI expected better food than what I got. Protein pancakes looked super cool in the picture but turned out to be boring: just pancakes, mango slices and something like sugar syrup. Coffee was ok. The atmosphere is nice though, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Update after the owner commented: I definitely had mango in my pancakes because the cafe didn’t have strawberry that morning, so the staff asked me politely if I was ok with other fruit, I picked mango and I was totally ok with that, I know what I’m taking about, please, look at the picture I’ve posted. I didn’t say that was any sugar in my pancakes, I said there was something like sugar syrup, it was sweet and tasted like sugar. Maybe it was some unicorn tear that doesn’t contain sugar, idk. All I wanted to say is that Matcha breakfast was good but didn’t surprise me, it wasn’t as good as I expected, and I see some things that could be improved. I’ll come to try more options, for sure. Also: you can’t please every customer, and it’s...
Read moreSadly the rice fields in the pictures no longer exist, turned into a pho restaurant so views are gone. The food was slow and subpar in flavor and quality. The avo toast was super soggy and bland smash. The menu sounded so tasty but it was not. I ordered two separate things in hopes one would be ok and both did not taste good (oats were so bland and their apple was sour vinegar and the honey they provided was sour) and their tofu scrambled had a sloppy texture and curry taste which I just did not enjoy. Also the most expensive cafe I had eaten at in Canggu and the noisiest with motorbikes passing by the entire time. When I explained to the staff I did not enjoy the oats they shrugged their shoulders and charged me for that bowl that was not touched at all, no apology or recognition or remedy just well oops sorry. Wouldn’t recommend at all with all the other amazing options in Canggu like Shady Shack,...
