Went here for a quick drink - at first atmosphere was great and bartenders were amazing

We asked hostess to assist us with calling a gojek (like Uber) bc we cannot get one without an Indonesian number (you order and then pay cash). she said their bouncer drove a taxi and would give us a ride. It was a ten minute ride and this man charged us more than our 1.5 hour rides we’ve taken AND didn’t have change so we paid 200,000 for a ten minute ride which is ridiculous. Our 30 min ride today was 30,000 for context and our 1.5 hour was 150,000.

If this is how their staff is- I would not recc anyone going back. There are plenty of cooler bars with more honest people who are enjoyable to get to know. Bali is a great place and this is the first negative interaction I’ve had

We had expressed we wanted assistance with gojek - the affordable and trusted option - and this was the only option they presented. !40% TAX! The 2 stars are not for the bar, but for its owner. This place’s been my go-to bar for the last 2 years, I’ve brought so many friends of mine here because it’s great, the cocktails, the bartenders and the atmosphere. However, the last weekend we also went there. And when it came to paying the check, it turned out that they now charge 40% tax, which is crazy! The normal tax in Bali is from 11% to maximum of 21% total. And of course when you’re a usual guest there you won’t look at the small line with the tax percentage in the menu (especially when it’s super dark there), because you’ve been here lots of times and you would think nothing’ve changed. In my opinion this is a very low way of overcharging your customers, thinking that no one would notice this or will only notice it when it’s too late and it’s time to pay the bill.
