We discovered Warung Pojok Nyuh Kuning in 2015 while staying at hotel on the same street, and since then the cafe became a must-visit for us whenever we're in Ubud. The hardworking owners Made and Putu take pride in preparing and serving fresh and delicious meals, ensuring that food is 100% safe for tourists stomachs.

This year, we were pleased to find the cafe relocated to their stunning family compound, inviting guests to enjoy authentic Balinese food in a beautiful traditional setting.

The portions are very generous and variety on the menu makes it an enjoyable experience every time, every dish is a potential favorite! And their fresh juices taste better than anywhere else , so I can’t help myself but buying a couple of different types , lol The atmosphere is humble and welcoming, thanks to Made and Putu's warm hospitality.

If you're looking forward to tasting an authentic Balinese cuisine, which is prepared considering tourists stomachs requirements, this warung is a must-visit place for you as well, we highly recommend!

Note: Whatsapp them before coming for lunch to ensure it is open on the day, as summertimes there could be some events/ceremonies that they must attend and cafe...

We were here to have dinner with friends who eat here a lot and they had raved about how good the food is. We were keen to try it as we like to find good local warungs that don't just dish out westernised versions of Indonesian food. Maybe my expectations were too high, maybe I'm too fussy about what is or isn't traditional food, maybe I should have known better when I saw a place full of westerners.

The spring rolls were nice, the sauce had a little zing to it (and I mean little), they were fresh and hot which I really enjoyed. I had the ayam bakar for my main meal and it was nice enough but where was the kick? Not even a hint of chilli and no sambal on the side! Yikes. A lack of good sambal for a classic Warung dish of ayam bakar is pretty much a sign that the place caters mainly to the palate of westerners that want some flavour but no kick.

So I'm not saying that the food or the place is bad, but some reviewers saying "it's the best food in Bali" obviously steer clear of more traditional places that are full of locals. The food was nice, the owners are nice, the restaurant is nice.....but where's the sambal??!! I was seriously torn between the 3...

Don't be shy, come in!. Yes it's deceptive from the street but don't hesitate. You actually enter into a home compound. Yes a family lives here and run the Warung. The gardens and surrounds are kept neat and tidy, right down to the Bali Marigolds . Located in the far corner to the left is a very simple but beautifully presented cafe / restaurant. The owners are Made & Putu & they run the Warung, along with their family, house and gardens. A pool is located at the rear. The menu is simply Balinese. Both varied and inexpensive. Lunch and dinner is served. Dishes include a complete range of Nasi Gorengs, Specials like Ayam Swir, Lalapan & Bakar as well as a comprehensive vegetarian menu, tempting entres called 'small plates,' soups & deserts. The atmosphere is quietly Bali home like. Very family oriented and the setting makes you feel like you are home on the back patio overlooking the garden. Definitely worth a look see. Don't be shy. Come forward from the entrance into the garden and...

This warung is so underrated. I came across this by chance on my last night and came again the next day for lunch (ayam bakar, satay, crispy tempeh). I’m from a country familiar with Indonesian cuisine but this warung does it well enough to keep me coming back. Food is fresh, cook upon order, tastes good and very affordable. It’s family run, the chefs are the husband and wife themselves, and you’re dining in their home compound. It’s hygienic and clean, I’ve very sensitive stomach but had no issues eating here. Highly recommended, order what you feel like eating because all the dishes taste good. If I return to Ubud I’ll definitely come here every day. Note: They do accept card payments. Drop them a WhatsApp if you’re coming in for lunch as sometimes they might be closed, most of the times they open during dinner.

This was our favorite restaurant in Ubud! Unfortunately we only discovered it on our last night 🥲 Hidden in a nice temple garden, we couldn't find it at first! But when we did, we were rewarded with a beautiful quiet place. Everything was really clean and nice. And most importantly: the Indonesian food was so delicious and fresh here! Everything is made from scratch. As vegetarians we especially loved the satai tempeh skewers! The juices were also great. Super affordable. Thank you again 🙏
