AOM — Restaurant in Bandung City

We came here to kickstart our first visit to Bandung with many on tik tok recommending the place to us. The service was absolutely stellar and whoever was the manager needs a gold star because they were fantastic.

However, the food fell short of the expectations that online foodies set for us. While the prices were great, and the portions were huge it felt a shame that we couldnt finish everything simply because it was not good.

We ordered the calamari, papaya salad and baby crab to start. The calamari was bland, the breading was too much and the calamari itself was rubbery. The sauce it came with did not save the dish unfortunately. The papaya salad tasted bland and far too sweet. It felt like chopped vegetables were tossed in peanuts and water. The baby crab was quite delicious however.

For our mains we ordered the gouramie fried fish and the ribs. The fish was presented to us so beautifully and again massive portion. We could hardly get through it because the fish did not taste fresh (rivery aftertaste), was bland and the sauce was far far far too sweet. The ribs which came with fried rice was nothing to ring home about but was decent.

For our drinks I ordered a purple cocktail (forgot the name) which tasted like syrup with zero alcohol. Initially we wanted to order wine by the glass but it seems like none of the staff seemed trained enough to know which bottle was available by the glass as there were constant back and forth between the staff and the management (the manager was truly carrying the weight of the place she was amazing).

The wait staff did come up to us to check if everything was okay but considering how crowded it was that night we felt it would be ill timed to the already busy wait staff so we leave our honest review here.

Come for the great vibes, beautiful place and truly good live music but i would not recommend this place to eat. Hoping to see some improvement in...

We ordered nachos, thai chicken, dragon fruit cocktail, lava cake, and ubud iced tea. I completely forgot what the real names are haha, pretty sure i only got lava cake and ubud tea right. But everything was on point! Let's discuss them one by one.

Nachos : crispy tortilla chips, with beef, cheese, mayo, and jalapeños. Perfect light bite! Spicy, satisfying, just great.

Thai chicken: grilled chicken with sour and spicy Thai dipping sauce. The chicken is juicy, cooked just right, flavourful, and lovely sauce too.

Dragonfruit cocktail: oh my this is delicious! I love cocktails and this one hits the spot. Would love to go here again to try more of their cocktails. They have lots of selections, from classic cocktails to their signature cocktails.

Lava cake: might be the one i like least here cause it's just way too milky for my taste. Would love if it has less milk and just more chocolate goodness.

Ubud iced tea: refreshing and filled with herbs and spices. Very fragrant. Definitely not your typical iced tea.

I apologise for the bad quality picture. My battery was 1% and i couldn't take proper pics😆 the cocktail was without doubt my favorite!

Place is dark though, as a dining club usually is, this is purely personal preference, but i like brighter place more haha. Some would say it is nice...

Please choose your menu wisely.. Is not that I don’t recommend this place, but you must choose the food wisely. I am just sharing my honest experience.

We ordered AOM’s Pizza and Som Tam cause we weren’t that hungry just grabbing snacks/light meal and the size were for sharing as well.

Flavour wise? Unfortunately so ordinary.. Som Tam flavor is not even close to the OG SomTam (did not use the fermented crab *already informed by the waitress when taking order) however thought dried shrimp would be there.. When arrived in our table, the dish smelled not nice, maybe from the sauce? (I did not finish the food). I thought at least should be 11:12 from the OG SomTam but turns out very different. In my opinion Som Tam should be refreshing and savory (from fish sauce and dried shrimp)at the same time..

The Pizza, is not a bread type but like a tortilla very thin crispy with Hawaiian pizza topping. Quite sweet for my tastebuds. Took quite a while to be ready.. So our food experience was just filling up our stomach but unfortunately did not feel satisfied🥺
