Totally overrated! I was mainly concerned about the eating atmosphere here. With the hype and the long waiting list/time, this place doesn't deserve even a 3 star rating :-/
The food taste okay, not special, not something that will make me come back. The mochi has a unique taste - looking like cireng, it's soft and chewy and not too sweet. The service was okay too. The local waitresses are friendly but there was one Chinese-looking waitress that looked very unfriendly and impatient when accepting our orders The atmosphere deserves a minus point. The place is extremely crowded with small alleyways in between tables.
The most disappointing thing is that this restaurant doesn't separate smoking vs non-smoking area. I had an extremely unpleasant experience breakfasting with my family during Ramadhan here. There was a group of Chinese people who were not fasting, arrived at this place before us (perhaps around 4 PM-ish), had eaten some food, stayed there for HOURS, and consistently SMOKED CIGARETTES next to us!!! Very intolerant and inconsiderate especially during Ramadhan. Waitresses did nothing to accommodate this situation. I could only smell the smell of cigarettes while eating, couldn't smell the food aroma at all. I cannot believe they could keep continuing smoking while there was a little kid (my brother) next to them. Stupid human beings, and on top of that stupid restaurant for not accommodating non-smoking customers.
BAD EXPERIENCE overall. Not gonna come back and not gonna recommend this place to any of my friends or acquaintances.
Additional: praying place looks new, but they don't divide the praying area for female vs male. AC was SOOO cold for such small room, I had to put the...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePerfect experience! I sure will regret it if I didnāt decide to eat here at the last minute during my trip to Bandung. They serve any kind of HALAL DIM SUM! Donāt be discouraged by the long queue when you come here, because they have perfect queue system just like big restaurant. Just go directly to their front area, you will find a waiter on stand by there that will list your name on queue. After that just took their order list and put down you order while waiting (they will check it when you got table), if you're lucky there'll be open seat for wait list. They also put list of non available menu (off-season) beside, so make sure you don't order those. I came here in Saturday morning during long weekend, so I expect the queue to be more crowded than normal. Actually spend 40 minutes waiting before I got my table, and another 15 minutes for my order to get served. Donāt forget to enjoy their open kitchen view when waiting for your order. Eat your dimsum as soon as it got served, as it taste better eaten hot. We got amazed by how all of their meat (chicken / shrimp inside dimsum or as topping) was in big chunk, but managed to taste so soft and chewy. It's way way different compared with those found in local dimsum store. Our best recommendation was Wonton soup (as appetizer) and Bakpao Telur Asin (as dessert). Unfortunately we didnāt order much as we still plan to continue our food travel after. Overall our best food experience during our trip in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I have been going to Kafeteria 170 since it was first opened. This eatery offers both Western and Indonesian dishes and drinks. Western food items include sandwiches to pastas. While the Indonesia food range from freshly made ones and "warteg" dishes that are ready-to-serve.
The best part about this place is that it also sells snacks and Kue Pia if you wish to bring souvenirs for your loved ones from Bandung.
Those of you who travel in cars and wish to dine in, don't worry, there's plenty of parking space at Kafeteria 170. New to the place is also the vertical, elevated parking deck (see attached picture) where you can park your car vertically with other cars for an affordable 5000 rupiah for each hour.
When we visited two days ago, we experienced something that we have not experienced before at Kafeteria 170 and that is personal feedback. After completing our meal, the waiter who had been taking our order and serving them, came back to our table to pick up our empty plates and mugs while asking about our eating experience and asking for our feedback.
In that note, we would like to extend our appreciation to the staff and management for improving the quality of...
