Looking at the prices on the menu and the praise Bakmie Tjo Kin gets, you would have no choice but to have high expectations. Sadly, this place leaves so much to be desired.
Ordered myself a bowl of Bakmie Asin Spesial with regular noodles, and it was mediocre at best. It tasted so similar to traditional chicken noodles you would find on the street, but priced double that. The wonton tasted kinda off, it stank so bad and the meatballs were bland. Oh well, at least the iced tea was alright.
Despite all the negative things I have to say, I do love the overall aesthetic of the restaurant itself. I'm a sucker for vintage things, so it was right up my alley. The female server (I forgot to ask her name) was very kind and patient in explaining the menu. The other servers were just doing their job which is very understandable lol. No complaints on the customer service.

Read moreI recently dined at Bakmie Tjo Kin and my experience left much to be desired. While the place was well-designed and managed, there were several disappointments that overshadowed the positives.
Firstly, the taste of the noodles was underwhelming. For the price, I expected something special, but it was far from it. BIG RED FLAG, the noodles were ripped into smaller pieces (shown in the picture), which not only made it impossible to slurp but also seemed to disregard the Chinese tradition of longer noodles symbolizing longer life (it is a chinese concept noodle resto, right?). May be they do this to save cooking time. This says much about their commitment to quality.
Additionally, the noodles tasted more like kampoeng style chicken noodles than authentic Chinese noodles, which was a letdown.
The limited parking and waiting list during peak times added to the inconvenience. Overall, Bakmie Tjokin didn't live up to the hype, and I won't be rushing back...
Read moreCame with an expectation that the experience will be a good one because this place has a good reputation. Yes, the food was okay.. but the service was a disaster. There was quite many staffs there and yet the dirty plates and all still somehow laying there until the next customer asking them to clean it. They didn’t have any tissue there.. running out of it they said (and yes not even in the toilet). They shouted the customer’s name to figure out on which table they should serves the foods (they really shoud use a table number though) and we should ask for the cutlery. And the worst part was, they brought my food (Bakmi Ayam Asin) with an order receipt on top of my food, YES EXACTLY INSIDE THE BOWL ON TOP OF MY NOODLE 😭 But again— the food was okay. But the service, hygiene, and system needed a fix on...
