Dae Jang Geum Grand Batam — Restaurant in Batam City

At first thought the meal was decent. Mul naengmyeon was quite tasty. However, biggest issue was that we were considering whether we wanted to bingsoo because we wanted to leave soon. We asked the staff how long would it take for the bingsoo to be ready and she said 5 minutes. But then after waiting for 15 minutes it was still not ready. So we wanted to pay for our meal up till then and leave. Then the manager said it was actually “ready to serve”… so we decided to eat it then since they said it was “ready to serve”. Then it ended up taking another 10 minutes from then because apparently, “ready to serve” meant that the counter staff was going to start making it only at that point. At this point we were both already quite annoyed from waiting for so long. To our amazement/ horror, the bingsoo we waited for 25 minutes to be served cannot even be considered bingsoo, it was basically chunks of ice with oreo powder. So we left half of it untouched because the ice is so hard and inedible… last part was, apparently we needed to pay more for the kimchi we asked for, but we were not informed at all and only found out when we were paying the bill. Maybe there is a different culture here but most places will usually have free flow kimchi or at the very least, inform you if there is an additional charge.

All in all, a disappointing experience. Would not visit again but if you want to, make sure not to order...

Was contemplating whether to go for Duck Kitchen Dim Sum or Korean. Since long time din try Korean, hence we go for a try.
