Pizza e Birra Grand Batam Mall — Restaurant in Batam City

We were there with our kids, food was ok, it was better when they were just opened (I don’t know what has changed). We ordered tuna pizza and it wasn’t nice… the pizza bread is not crusty/fresh feels like something out of frozen pizza box. Service was poor as the staff didn’t have the initiative to clear our table where it was obvious there was no more space for more incoming dishes that we have ordered. My toddler spilled his drink over his plate and not one staff came and help or replace the now wet plate until we asked them to come and get a new plate for our toddler. For the price that you’re paying you’d expect to be seated comfortably without smokers in the same room with your little kids. Not only we were in the same room with many smokers, the seats smelled like someone had vomited on it and the staff just wiped it off with wet cloth. The smell on one of the table was just awful. We came back because their pizzas were initially great, but when we went this last time it was just not good enough. We almost spent 1 mio rupiah in one sitting (for 2 adults and 2 toddlers), but felt like we will never come back. Such shame, it was a great place but the management seem to cater only for smokers and alcohol drinkers … definitely not a family...

A great pizza franchise newly opened in batam. Still maintain the standard quality of their pizza , even in obscure island like this.

So , food is okay, according to their standard. Pizza has thin type of dough , which also is the main type of pizza used in every restaurant of this franchise. The discounted opening promo pizza is still as delicious as the usual. The menu variation however , is not as creative as the other , probably because it's new. In Bali they have oxtail pizza , but none here. Pasta is also delicious, my friend bought an e funghi pizza and the smell itself already makes me hungry. For the price, it is rather expensive in Indonesia standard , but understandable. Worth the price and quality ratio.

Staff is also still new , maybe a little bit need of training and experience since the first time i enter they didn't realize that im a customer. After my friend come to join , we just got the menu.

The place is also good to enjoy beer , also designed to have a lounge to host a watch party. Also outdoor seating available for smoking, facing the main road.

Overall, will come again only if...

Would like to warn potential patrons to be aware of the unethical staff and management of Pizza e Birra, especially the outlet at the Grand Batam Mall.

We went on 2 Dec for their opening promotion for lunch. When paying the bill, the cashier insisted that the company only accepts cashless payment. We handed him our credit card and after swiping the card once, he asked for an authorization pin. We said that our card does not require a pin for payment, and he proceeded to swipe again (without seeking our permission) and handed to us only 1 receipt. We assumed that the first attempt to pay did not go through (since no authorization pin was provided) and we left the place.

Upon checking our bank account later, we noticed that 2 identical payments had been charged to our card. We went back to the branch to ask the staff and "Boss" to do a reversal for one of the duplicated transactions, but they refused to help and insisted that there was nothing wrong with their process and system. We have lodged a report to the bank for the transactions involved with Pizza e Birra. So do be careful when patronizing...
