Sushi Ozu — Restaurant in Batam City

Hi! I’d like to leave my feedback here. For my visit on the last Friday (21 Mar 2025).

Food quality was not good (taste, condition, varieties, etc). NO ICE CREAM SERVED AS PER ADVERTISED! Sushi was only 3 varieties and taste bland. The only good thing was the Blackpepper beef I think. Other than that was a FAILURE. Drink only have 1 OCHA. Dessert was only 1 type of PUDDING & ES BUAH. The foods were also served improperly. Very messy I swear to God. This is more to like “KONDANGAN” style. Even my neighbor had a better Wedding Buffet than this OMG.

⁠It was pricey based on the food quality (With Rp 189.000++ /pax I can get a very nice HOTEL BUFFET).

⁠Place was too small. Are you kidding? It was so not convenient to move around as the venue you set for Iftar was too squeezy.

⁠Place was not clean. The buffet area was far from TIDY & HYGIENIC. The food waste was scattered all over the buffet stalls. And NO ONE BOTHERED TO CLEAN!!! We paid for TAX & SERVICE CHARGE but THE STAFFS DIDNT EVEN CHECK THE FOOD CARTS. Some customers just left their cup by the buffet table and the staffs never clean it up.

⁠There was not even ONE STAFF ON SBY TO DO THE CLEANING or just standby in case the customers need any assistances. What a joke!

⁠When I asked the staff to add 1 more chair for my belonging they didnt seem to be happy and not friendly. But thanks that they still accomodate.

Overall, it was not a satisfying experience. To be honest it was a disaster to me. I was so embarrassed because my Singaporean husband was quite disappointed. We expected something better than this. Apperently that was the first and last time we would ever visit your place. And definitely NOT RECOMMENDED. Please make some changes. I feel like I got...

Sushi Ozu

Unfortunately i don’t take any pictures of the photo or the restaurant itself, but i hope this review is still relevant.

We got there on a pretty busy evening, ordered some sushi and rolls. The food came out pretty fast, and can’t lie that the taste is very flavorful and fresh. But one of our dishes came out pretty late which is the salmon teriyaki where we wait around 30 minutes and the flavor of the teriyaki is not matching our expectations, we do wish that the salmon absorb the teriyaki sauce but it just taste like you fried a salmon and put the sauce on top of it. But overall the food aspects is still good.

Moving on to the services and the design of the restaurants. For the services of the staff, all i can say is good, neither too much nor too little. But there’s a minus in the design aspect of the sushi bar kitchen, as you may know that the sushi kitchen and beverages preparation are in the middle of the restaurant, a great way to use a space. But when i’m sitting in front of the bar, i can see all of the wooden platters on the top bar, the kettles, the water jug, and there’s even staff that is washing one of the water dispensers in front of me. Which is not pleasant for the eyes especially when we’re eating. I do recommend to maybe raise the bar higher or give a glass separator so that customers wouldn’t have to see those scenes.

Sushi Ozu🍣 is one of the greatest sushi restaurant I ever had. But the reason why I rewarded 4 stars to this place is we waited so long for the menu (we waited an hour for drinks and the food came out every 15 minutes😂). We ordered 7 dishes. I prefer "Salmon Baked Cheese Roll🧀", it's very delicious! If you like cheese, it's a menu that you can feel satisfied. Though the waiters are still unexperienced, but thank you for being polite and friendly🤗

2️⃣Second time visiting Ozu! In the first visiting time, I voted 4 stars for this place but now I changed it to 5⭐! Yes, this restaurant successfully improve their service and their food tastes are impressive now🤫🤫🤫! Luckily we joined the 2023 independence day promo🇮🇩. They give special treats where chosen item can be ordered by just paying Rp 45.000😱. We ordered 10 items from the menu (includes menu without promo) and paid for Rp 663.000😅.
