Informal Thai chain with at least two if not three outlets in Medan. Cash, credit card and e-wallet payments accepted. Little English spoken. Staff is courteous and prompt. Thai as well as Indonesian food.
Thai and Indonesian favorites served in a relaxed environment that's a step above most other mall food settings. Menu is almost as heavy on Indonesian dishes (variations of nasi goreng, etc.) as on Thai dishes. Salads & appetizers, entrees, desserts, and a variety of juices, coffees, teas, etc. to choose from. You can probably find something here that will appeal to everyone.
They were out of the Salad Mangga Thai so opted for Lalapan Ikan Belacan Thai, basically a seafood salad on a bed of rice noodles. Three or four cooked shrimp plus probably double that in small squid rings. Mostly vermicelli rice noodles. The dressing is tart and flavorful and packs a very noticeable spice punch up front, but it doesn't linger. Served at room temperature.
The Ayam Pandam is a piece of white meat chicken baked in pandam leaves. Very flavorful with a few sesame seeds as additional flavoring. Chicken was slightly overcooked but still very tasty. Served with a small (too small, frankly) side of slightly sweet chili sauce of about medium heat. Five pieces of chicken per order.
Thai tea was delicious and very sweet.
This is a good basic Thai restaurant. Not life-changing or memorable but enjoyable in the moment and a short respite from shuffling...
Read moreWhile the food we ordered was rather good, the hospitality wasn't. We waved our hands to call for ordering the food, and we knew for sure that they noticed, but they just stood near the counter, ignoring us for a good ten minutes. When one of them finally came toward us, no smile shown at all. Later on, we wanted to order mango sticky rice, but the same waitress said that they ran out of it. Still, without any smiles. New customers came a bit later and they were served mango sticky rice.
Look, we didn't know what was happening, honestly. Felt like we were punished for something we know nothing about. This was our first time here and we doubt that we would come again.
Please teach your staff about hospitality that Thai restaurants are known for. Also, please tell them to say sorry and thank you, ones that we...
Read moreHoly, crap. How the mighty has fallen. This restaurant, as its prime was extremely delicious. I remember the pad thai being filled with flavor and good iced thai milk tea. But now? Gosh. How do I even start? Pad thai tastes like they fried it with water and powdered chili. We ordered some sort of fried rice, and imagine this. The fried rice tasted like white rice and LOOKS like white rice. The small shrimp it came with? So salty I can feel my hair falling off. My gods. The service was also.. iffy and so-so. Employees looked like they didn’t want to be here. They looked like they didn’t want to take my order too. When I said my order, they didn’t nod, or anything like that. And just looked at me like I was the crazy one for saying something😕. Please, just go somewhere else....
