I visited Aburi Sushi in Kuta around 11:00 AM and ordered the following items in sequence: • Inari Chuka Wakame Salad • Inari Chuka Idako • Inari Jellyfish • Kitsune Udon • Ebi Tempura
By the time I finished the Kitsune Udon, I started feeling pain in my upper abdomen. Initially, I thought it could be resolved by going to the restroom, so I went to the restroom and then returned to eat the Ebi Tempura. However, at this point, I began to experience severe itchiness on my scalp, which was quickly followed by rashes and hives all over my body.
When the rash started spreading, I realized something was seriously wrong. Thankfully, one of my friends, who is a pharmacist from Korea, suggested that it might be food poisoning and advised me to induce vomiting. I went to the restroom for the second time, where I vomited and experienced severe diarrhea. Despite this, the rashes and hives continued to worsen, and intense itching spread all over my body. I had to drive myself to Siloam Hospital Emergency Room, which was four minutes away from the restaurant.
At the hospital, the doctors treated me and confirmed that this was indeed food poisoning. I have never had any allergic reactions to food in my life, so this was my first experience with such a situation, which left me shocked and confused. I believe the issue might have been caused by either the Inari Chuka Wakame Salad or the Inari Jellyfish, as I was the only one in my group who ate those items.
What disappointed me the most was the restaurant staff’s response. When I complained about the rashes and itching, none of the staff showed genuine concern or provided any meaningful assistance. When me and my wife asked if they had any emergency medicine available, TREE different staff members came over, each asking, “How can we help you?” Like they didn't share any information about what we were asking for and my friends were around me and busy helping me, asking such question three times is such bothersome. None of them had any real solutions or support.
The manager, who eventually came to our table, did not take any action to help me either. Instead, he asked me irrelevant questions like, “What did you eat for breakfast before coming here?” as if to shift the blame elsewhere. He even stated, “It takes time to identify food poisoning, so this might not be food poisoning,” which seemed like an attempt to deny any responsibility. That is not the only way to get food poisoning.
Even as we were leaving the restaurant, the manager followed us out and started asking unrelated questions like, “Where do you live? Where is your driver?” Well I'm the driver, don't make my people get nervous. This was completely unnecessary and only fueled my frustration, especially given my physical condition at the time.
Had the staff shown any genuine care or taken responsibility, I wouldn’t be writing such a lengthy review. Aburi Sushi is considered a reputable Japanese restaurant in Bali, and I believe their customer service and crisis management should reflect that reputation.
I have no intention of ever returning to this restaurant and will ensure that everyone I know hears about this experience. Unsafe food and a lack of accountability are unacceptable in any...
Read moreAburi Sushi Sunset Road has become one of our go-to spots for sushi, and I’ve visited countless times with my wife. Every visit continues to impress us, not only because of the exceptional quality of the food but also due to the unique and inviting atmosphere that this place offers. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers both great food and a wonderful dining experience consistently, but Aburi Sushi does just that.
Let’s start with the restaurant concept – we’ve always loved the modern and cozy design. The decor is sleek yet warm, with touches of Japanese elegance that create a peaceful ambiance. The open kitchen adds a nice touch, letting guests see the skilled chefs preparing their dishes with precision. It’s a place where you can comfortably enjoy your meal, whether you're having an intimate dinner for two or dining with friends.
Now, onto the food – the sushi and aburi-style dishes here are simply outstanding. Freshness is key when it comes to sushi, and Aburi Sushi does not disappoint. Each piece is beautifully prepared with the highest-quality ingredients, and the sushi is always served at the perfect temperature. We love the aburi (seared) sushi – the smoky flavor adds a whole new level to the dish, and the melt-in-your-mouth texture is just incredible. Their menu is varied, and we’ve tried so many different rolls and dishes, but there are a few standouts we always go back to. The Aburi Salmon Roll is an absolute favorite, with just the right amount of flavor and a perfect balance between the fish and the sauce.
Aside from sushi, they offer a range of other Japanese delicacies that are equally delicious. The unagi don (grilled eel on rice) is another dish we always enjoy, with the perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors. And don’t even get me started on their sashimi – it’s always fresh and so vibrant in flavor.
Service here is also top-notch. The staff is always attentive and friendly, making sure we have everything we need without being overbearing. They’re knowledgeable about the menu and are happy to make recommendations if you're undecided. We’ve never had to wait long for our food, and the pacing of the meal is just right, allowing us to savor each course without feeling rushed.
What we also love about Aburi Sushi is that it’s the perfect place for any occasion. Whether it's a casual lunch, a dinner with friends, or a special date night, the atmosphere makes you feel comfortable and at home, and the food never...
Read moreI could say , the best belt sushi based on ambience i found compared to every single belt sushi i've ever tried, there's always a BUT, the nigiri from the belt is really dry and not fresh. This is my highlighted comment , let's jump to review.
Food , i tried 3 sushi from the conveyor belt, 2 of them are okay , and the tuna nigiri is very dry, i don't even want and/or can't finish it, even with the help of free refill ocha.... Something else, i bought the yakitori set, pretty okay tastes but still need to reconsider the price and ingredient ratio (1 garlic, 2 chicken skin, 1 yakitori, and 1 chicken ball skewer , which comes in a package) .
The atmosphere, it's really rare to see such restaurant that feels like a big place like this in Bali, probably because of the good lighting, and the overall restaurant placement. The decors themed like modern pop with a sprinkle of japanese feels. Air is very well conditioned. Also they provide a pretty big waiting room / room for waiting list. Toilet is really clean.
Staffs are very neat and provide a good service. I oftentimes see the head staff passing by just to make everything neat. The waiter is great, they provide the ocha refill directly if they see your cup is getting empty without you need to call them.
Price , pretty average if you eat from the belt sushi only , but might be expensive if you waste your money mostly doing direct order. By the time i was here , they have a promo all the belt sushi 20k every saturday.
Also, you might think it's a franchise restaurant, but it seems they currently only open here in bali ( not sure if there's another same Aburi Sushi outside Indonesia ).
Conclusion: if there is another great offer , definitely...
