A very disappointing experience!! 😞
After some really good reviews on a local Sanur Facebook page we decided to give it a go.
On arrival we were seated promptly and they took the drinks order pretty quickly. That went ok but discovered that you can’t buy any packaged water there. They have bottles of filtered water for 20k but unfortunately I don’t trust the source so we couldn’t have any water. Anyway continuing on.
I signalled one waitress twice and a separate waitress once over a 15 minute period before they actually came to our table. In the meantime they took the order from 2 other tables that arrived after us. I knew it was going bad from that point. We ordered Bao buns and soup to share for starters and 3 other dishes to share for the main. They tried to bring out one of the main dishes before the starters but I sent it back because I didn’t want to be eating cold food. At this point I had a discussion with the manager who kind of understood what the issue was with bringing all the food at once. When the starters finally came it was 30 minutes after ordering. And the mains maybe 5 minutes after that. An hour after we arrived at the restaurant. The restaurant appeared to be at around 50-60% capacity but they were absolutely swamped. The kitchen and wait staff were definitely undermanned. The food was ok. Definitely not brilliant. The portion size was just average. The Gua Bao(Bao Buns) have a paper slip on the outside and when you try to peel it off, it peels the outside of the Bao off. And a definite note about the Hot and Sour Soup. It doesn’t state on the menu that it contains chicken and shrimp. My vegetarian son got half way through before he realised that it had chicken and shrimp. On discussion with the manager again he said that they can’t describe everything that goes into it. I’m sorry but that is a big mistake. People are allergic to some foods so it’s an absolute must. He could end up killing someone. Especially if it has shrimp. Anyway to wrap it up, I went up to the counter to speak to the manager and pay the bill so that I could speak to him quietly. I told him that it had been a terrible experience. I broke down the whole evening so he could understand the mistakes made and told him that I would be leaving a 1 star review. He said he was sorry but made no other attempt to compensate. Unfortunately I definitely couldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Update: Thank you for your response. Just to be perfectly clear. My son wasn’t talking about the soup when he said it was “brilliant”. He was actually quite annoyed when he found out he’d been eating chicken and shrimp. And in regards to your free food comment. I wasn’t looking for any free food. I was merely giving you the opportunity to try and compensate for the bad experience. As a previous business owner, that is what I would have done to try and get that person to come back or not leave upset or annoyed. Clearly you didn’t want us to come back again or recommend your...
Read moreI wish to highlight we are Sanur residents and have enjoyed eating here many times since it first opened. Unfortunately, last night we had a poor experience due to poor service. It was our son's 12th birthday so we booked a table of 4 for himself and friends, along with a table of 2 for wife and myself. We were allocated table no's 6 and 7. Summary of poor service. After parking in the 'reserved for Hey Ni Hao' area, we were told we can't park there. Nearest parking was a significant distance away in Jl. Cemara. Of course it poured with rain last night! Our son's birthday table was ignored all night. They had been seated some time without being offered menus to order their drinks. I gave them the menus. After some, they had not been asked for their orders. I had to ask the staff to do so. The same happened with meal orders. The same happened for clearing the table. All this time, my wife and I were afforded good service at our table. The final insult came when we asked for the birthday cake we had prepositioned in the kitchen. There was no offer from the staff to light the candles and deliver it, joining us singing happy birthay. Nothing. I wish to finish on a high, saying the food was, as always, lovely. We will be back but definitely not for our son's 13th...
Read moreThis restaurant was a huge disappointment tonight. It was the third time we went, the first two times for Peking duck, but even then they did not supply enough pancakes so we had to wait 20 minutes for more.
One of our guests had a reaction to MSG the last time, so we asked for no MSG this time and that seemed to be quite problem for the kitchen … so we tried to order around the MSG problem orderin another duck dish on the menu but the duck that was served was mostly bones. When we mentioned this to the manager, her reaction was extremely defensive. The food was just not good.
Because the manager (?) was so defensive and unhelpful when we mentioned that this experience might generate a negative review, she just said “go ahead”.
So we shall not be returning. Not a great way for a brand new business to nurture a clientele.
I just read your reply and I am now even more shocked. This was the first time my friend ordered this dish and he certainly did not finish his meal but left it half eaten given its quality. Moreover, how dare you make an assumption such as that about the relationship of two clients. All I can say, is “buyer beware” with regard to this little business…. one gets a sense of the place from the crude way in which they...
