My wife and I were about to blow off Jenpun as a stereotypical touristy restaurant until we took a closer look at the menu. In addition to the expected Western style steaks, seafood, and pasta dishes, some unique Indonesian items were present that we hadn’t seen on other local menus and that enticed us. We ordered the rendang domba (lamb shank curry) and nasi goreng kebuli (goat fried rice). Both dishes were excellent. The lamb shank curry offered a large portion of meat that fell easily off the bone and arrived coated in a rich, aromatic curry sauce. The slightly spicy fried rice had the ideal texture, tender goat meat, and was smartly topped with lamb sate skewers and a jammy fried egg. We would gladly order both dishes again.
Ambiance wise, the place has the classic tropical vibe complete with breezy covers of English top 40 songs that one expects from a place catering predominantly to tourists. That being said, the place is kept tidy, including both the bathrooms and the semi open kitchen. Service was friendly and prompt.

Read moreWe chose this restaurant at the last minute and are so glad we did so! The pictures of all menu items were nicely done, and we were already excited about how great the food would be. Each dish was delicious and tasteful, and beautifully presented just as in the menu photos. The staff were friendly and helpful. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting. The price was super reasonable. I really loved my grilled barramundi. It was nicely cooked with skin crispy. It was mounted on 3 different sauces, allowing me to enjoy the fish in various ways. Oh, the pulled pork pancake! I wish I knew how to cook it at home. It was an amazing appetizer! The poached peach dessert was just about right, really going well with the ice cream.
We are definitely coming back before our trip in...

Finally, someone took my drink and appetizer order. No one ever came for my main order. I watched as everyone around me got served and I was ignored. Finally, I got up and told someone no one ever took my main order so I will pay and leave. All she said was "thank you" and went to get the bill. I paid, and there was no apology. I said, "It is terrible to have someone sit and wait and never take their order." Again, all she said was "thank you." No manager, no...
