To the Owner of Lilla Warung. First of all, i like to say that the food is lovely ... your fried chicken is tender and tasty! My family and i have been to your restaurant several times. Nice, clean and smoke free during the day.
But at night, when we had our dinner, it was a disaster. Your Staff Kadek was trying to fill the restaurant to the maximum until there was no place to breathe as the table next to us ... about 6 of them were all smoking away regardless of who was around them.
Your staff, Kadek should have asked the customers if they are smoking and it would be desirable to put the smokers closer to the entrance of your establishment rather than inside.
My family and I were sitting close to the Cashier's counter. None of my family members smoke and my children were throwing up their food after we left the restaurant due to all the smoking from the next table.
Secondly, could you kindly teach Kadek how to clean the tables as she was literally throwing all the remnants of food from the next table unto our table. We told Kadek to caution but she laughed at us not realising her rudeness.
All in all, the food was lovely and we will be back....
Read moreCame to Warung Lila tonight expecting something positive given the previous reviews.
Ambience was lovely. Staff were polite and attentive. Food though was a complete disappointment. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes.
Beef rendang - was essentially a beef stew which was a poor representation of what a rendang should be. The gravy lacked depth of flavour and had no creamy texture that one should get if coconut milk was used.
Chicken sate - just plain unmarinated chicken breast pieces grilled on a stick. The accompanying sauce was flat. Again a poor example of a standard dish.
Nasi campur - two out of the five dishes served were okay. The sate lilit was plain. The young jackfruit curry , a classic dish from Yogyakarta, was salty and otherwise tasteless. I had this dish elsewhere and it is a dream.
These above dishes should be local staples that should be reasonably good. But what was served was complete opposite. Dishes frankly weren’t redolent of the spices and flavours which are par for the course here.
This is my third trip to Indonesia (Java and Bali) over 10 years. Maybe we just got Warung Lila on...
Read moreWe discovered this place by accident. We had walked past it several times but not really paid much attention. Then, as we walked past one night, the smell coming from the restaurant was amazing. My friend and I looked at each other and just agreed that was where we were going to have dinner.
The atmosphere was cosy and inviting inside. We were seated near a ceiling fan so we had a lovely breeze. Staff were attentive and friendly without being intrusive.
I had a chicken satay dinner with a lemon Bing Tang. My friend decided to have dessert and a coffee as well and I joined in. A good decision. I had a traditional Indonesian dessert which was beautiful.
At the risk of sounding like a tea snob, it was the first tea I was really satisfied with since arriving in Bali. They allowed me to steep it to my strength preference and it can with milk rather than creamer. That was the icing on the cake, so to speak, for me.
They accepted Australian Visa cards in their...
