The Wicked Parrot — Restaurant in Denpasar Selatan

Our first holiday in Bali. My husband and I have been here nine nights so far and we've been to The Wicked Parrot thrice already. The first night we were warmly welcomed, we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. By the 3rd visit we felt like family. We belonged. The staff are so warm, friendly, happy and outgoing and can't do enough to please their diners, the food is tasty and reasonably priced and a band, that not only provides great entertainment to diners choice but also encourages guests and staff to come up and sing. Just the other night we watched, in absolute awe, as the diners and staff danced together to band music. You couldn't possibly ask for better atmosphere!! We've never witnessed such ambiance elsewhere. Well done, to the management and staff of The Wicked Parrot, Sanur!! A-m-a-z-i-n-g job! We will be back before we head home. Those people who put in bad reviews, that are untrue and uncalled for, should get their facts straight before wasting time on posting negative feedback, which nobody believes anyway. Shame on you! Find yourselves...

We dined at the Wicked Parrot twice during our recent stay, mainly to listen to the band (Sigid). Another tempter was the Kilkenny on tap which has always been a favourite of mine. On the first occasion I had the Cottage Pie which was tasteless and bland, much what you would expect from an Irish Pub. The second night I had the sirloin steak which was served nearly blue after requesting medium rare. The steak was tasty and quite tender so I overlooked the blood and got stuck in. The staff are brilliant, particularly a waiter called Dety, I think that's his name. He speaks excellent English and is able to predict when a customer needs something or when to leave he/she alone. Very professional. This restaurant attracts a good clientele each night, mainly in the senior age brackets which means they normally dine early so the tables turn over allowing diners from 8:00pm and onwards to choose their tables at will. It is an Ok restaurant nothing so special or terrible. Honestly I choose it because I was not in mood to walk much and it was just beside where I am staying plus they have live music! I will say it is definitely over priced because you can find way better food and service for cheaper price in Sanur. I ordered Avocado & shrimp salade as a starter and Tuna steak with shrimp sauce as main course both were just ok or a bit under avrage I will say since nothing was special in terms of taste, presentation, quantity and quality. In the main dish the black beans were bit hard not well cooked and the sauce was so plain and for the salade basically it was a lettuce and tomato salade spiced up with some Avocado and baby shrimps which was not expected because they were charging a high price for this salad! It was a kind of a disappointment for me but overall food was edible. The life music was ok and they do have free wifi so ask for...
