The Glasshouse Sanur Christmas lunch at The Glasshouse on Sanur was absolutely perfect! On arrival, we were shown to our table straight away and offered the choice of a Sangria, or Mocktail and when settled, we were personally greeted by the owner, an Australian! Entree was a choice of duck spring rolls and hoisin sauce, or prawn bruschetta with avocado and pomegranate, or Asian vegetarian rice paper rolls with satay sauce. As there were 3 of us we chose one of each. Our choice was definitely the duck rice paper rolls and prawn bruschetta, but the rice paper rolls were still good. Mains were traditional roast beef, roast pumpkin and potato, cauliflower cheese, peas and dumplings with gravy plus a few thick slices of hot ham. Absolutely delicious and the beef was cooked to perfection! As none of us ordered the other choice, I'm sorry I can't comment. Desert was a choice of Christmas pudding and custard, or individual pavlova with mango and passionfruit and a Berry drizzle. We all chose the pavlova and it was a very generous serve, and delicious. All throughout our time there, Benny sang and played his guitar. Christmas sing-a-long first, and afterwards his own repertoire, but also requests from guests. It was so lovely to have music, but live music was the best, along with the interaction of the guests, we all enjoyed it immensely, and so did the staff as they sang along too. It was our first time at The Glasshouse, and even though it was Christmas, we'd definitely go there...
Read moreSorry to say but the restaurant is below what is expected, the staff are nice but not professional, the restaurant looks tired and the food is below average.
We went here before Covid so it must have been 4-5 years ago and nothing has changed, the restaurants around have got so much better but the glasshouse has stayed the same.
The staff need to be managed, they are happy but go from table to table without any direction, I told one of the men that he had a label from his new t shirt still attached and he said he knew, he laughed and continued to serve.
The food had not been cooked fresh, it had been heated up, the potato was brown so I don’t know how old it was, we returned the meal and chose another dish, this time the fish was dry, they tried to charge us even though it was returned, they adjusted the bill after we brought it to there attention.
People will only put up with sub standard restaurants for so long and with so much competition you have to be constantly better.
I think the owner who is at the restaurant a lot needs to send in people to give her feedback after she leaves.
We passed by every night as it was next to out hotel and the place seemed very quiet.
It’s such a shame as it is in a perfect location and if run properly could be booked out...
Read moreSo I loved this place at first. Getting a salad and mixed greens was so exciting after a week off Bali and not many fruits and veggies. I ate here 4 times during my stay in sanur. The food is good, the ambiance is great, the air conditioned option is very nice. The staff is pleasant although you always seem to have to ask for your bill in Bali, it's foreign to me to not be checked in with to see how everything is, if I need anything, and then offered dessert or just the bill. Perhaps they see it as rushing me, but I'd like the attention. The food is good, not great, but better than most in sanur. My only problem is the incense I understand that religiously and culturally you need to get used to incense in Bali but lighting two sticks within 5 feet of each other in a 14x20 room while holding a pack of about 10 burning sticks was so intense for that small space I nearly had to leave. Smoke in a confined space should be limited and perhaps a more neutral or smaller stick or just only light the ones you need at once. I'm sorry I know this review is not going to be popular because it's religious I DO respect that but it's a hazard for extremely sensitive people to eat in here during...
