Dutch Pancake House Bali — Restaurant in Kuta

The so called dutch baby pancake came cold - and I ordered the creme brulee, hoping at least the caramelized custard was hot or warm. Unimpressed. It seems like they make a large batch of the pancakes and when customer orders, they just add toppings. And was served in a what seems to be a (cold) cast iron plate. Sad.

The tea was as bad as the creme brulee - never had butterfly pea tea tasted like petrol (?). Had an uncomfortable stomach a few hours later so I'm not sure if it was the tea or other things.

Overall, perhaps my expectations were too high for this eatery. It was promising at first but fell flat.

Also, a bizarre payment system in which the payment for food and beverage are seperated. Uncomfortable again for those using cards.

Ordered a “Chicken pancake”.

It’s made from some kind of sausage or beacon, not from chicken. The sauce it’s covered in tastes like it is taken from the bottle on our table.

They serve it in a pan, which makes you think that this is a freshly baked pancake and the pan is right from the oven.

No, the pan was cold and the pancake did not taste like it was freshly cooked.

So, basically they serve pre-made pancakes and fillings that they just microwave.

I do not know how this place has 5-star rating.

Just in the process of writing this review, the owner and other staff of this place, surrounded us and did not let us out because we did not want to pay for it.

Quite cozy place and with good food. We try one savory (beef stroganoff) and one sweet (strawberry Nutella add on vanilla ice cream) dutch pancake. The beef stroganoff is good. But in my honest opinion, the strawberry Nutella + vanilla ice cream is the winner for me. Maybe because pancake is better made sweet than savory? This is really tasty and not too sweet.

The price is affordable I think. We got the beef salad also, and it's also quite good. Maybe will come back again to try other sweet dutch pancake next...
