Abunawas Restaurant - Matraman Branch — Restaurant in Jakarta

The authentic Middle East restaurant that is not only serves variant of halal cuisines, but also in a Middle East decoration and ambiance. Abunawas consists of two floors with two kind of seating. There are the common seating with table and chair, and the other one is sitting on the carpet with a small sofa in a private room covered by curtains.

For the main course with rice, they provide Mandi, Briyani, Zurbiyan rice with the topping lamb, fish, or chicken. They also provide some vegetarian menu.

Here are what we tried :

Zurbiyan Lahm (IDR 115,000) Zurbiyan is a typical Middle East rice with its herbs and savoury taste. We chose Zurbiyan with Lahm (lamb). The rice is fragrant with its light savory taste and two big tender lambs that have similar texture with beef. A portion of this menu suits for sharing among 3 - 4 persons.

Kebab Dajaj (IDR 95,000) We chose kebab with Dajaj (chicken).  A plate of kebab served separately with chicken, french fries, and sliced onions.

How to eat this? Put the chicken, french fries, along with the sliced onions on the kebab skin. Then roll and enjoy it. I love the chicken! It tastes so good!

Umm Ali (IDR 38,000) It's time for Middle East dessert! This sweet "closing" is recommended by my friend who is a fan of Abunawas Restaurant and currently living in the US. Delicious mandi and biryani rice!

With lamb or chicken, both are so good!

Those place has been very famous for it Arabian cuisine and the setting of the place is also beautiful.

Quarter lamb or chicken over your choice of rice is people’s favorite. You can have mandi or biryani rice, or half - half on them. Complete with spicy sauce and if you order any dippings, like babagamush or hummus, you will get the pitta. I also tried the cheese samosa and I love it. Tabouleh is good and fresh, although I would love to have more lemon on it. I managed to try the milkshake as well. I chose the one with peanut butter, which is very nice and creamy. Next time I will try the one with dates I guess!

Ih has two floors so you can choose. You can also have the tables or the ‘tent’ where you can sit on the floor for full Arabian experience. They have private rooms you can use as well. I love the ambience, it’s pretty with fountain, cave-like and tent-like decoration, murals on the wall and Arabic accents.

It has spacious parking lot, so it won’t be a problem. I am not sur it is disability friendly though, especially for those with impaired mobility. It has spacious room but to reach the second floor will certainly be problematic. I hope they will...

Ambience : Ada 2 lantai dan 2 tipe tempat duduk yaitu bangku meja dan lesehan yang didalemnya ada sofa lantai dan karpet serta tertutup tirai, sebenernya ditawarin untuk lesehan tapi full (kayanya gak ada minumum order untuk bisa dusuk dilesehan deh) suka sama suasana dan dekornya arab banget dan exclusive

B. Staff Pelayannya ramah dan sigap info tentang menu.

C. Makanan : Samosa Keju 38k Enak banget ini sumpah hehe 1 porsi 3 biji, isiannya bisa Kambing/keju

Mandi Lahm 115k Asbut (asal sebut aja) pas milih antara Nasi mandi/Briyani dan satu lagi lupa, gue pilih mandi lamb (kambing) ada juga ayam. Seporsi ini gue pikir besar ternyata gak juga, berdua sih bisa cuma kurang untuk yg doyan makan kaya gue dan suami, kambingnya enak empuk dan gak bau. Nasinya enak cuma gak yang enak banget karena gue pikur tuh kaya nasi kebuli yang biasa gue makan ternyata beda dia gak kuning, putih.

Kebab Dajaj 95k Kebab ini ada pilihan ayam/kambing (beda nama) nah kalo dajaj=ayam, penyajiannya lucu kulit kebab disatu tempat, (ayam dibentuk panjang, kentang, saos dan acar)misah jadi kalo mau makan disusun dulu *taro kulit kebab taro daging ayam, kentang acar dan saos baru deh gulung happ makan

Abu Nawas Tea 33k Ini gue kemakan review sih, katanya enak pas gue cobain,,,, et dah pait bener dan gue gak cocok sama daun mint ternyata. Lagi lagi penyajiannya unik, kita dikasih 1 nampan isinya 1 teko (isinya teh panas), 1 tempat kecil (isinya gula batu), 2 gelas, 2 sendok kecil dan 1 piring kecil daun mint segar.

Umm Ali 38k Ini sih primadonanya, dessert enak dipenghujung santapan, ini mirip puding tapi juga kaya fla dan sedikit rasa es krim, di sajiin mangkok kecil (mangkuk zuppa soup) isinya ada kaya biskuit regal dibawahnya dan kacang plus kismis dan atasnya cinnamon.

Milk Shake Coklat 38k Karena kepaitan minum abunawas tea, akhirnya pesen ini rasanya enak, atasnya ada es krim (entah tapi gue rasa ini rasanya mirip umm ali) endol

BALIK LAGI ? Kayanya enggak , jangan suuzon dulu bukan karena enggak enak atau nyaman tapi karena kayanya lidah gue lebih cocok nasi kebuli diacara maulid deket rumah 😂 dan memang gue suka to find a new taste of food in every different...
