If Pretentious Was A Place
Food: 7/10 • Their Marble Coffee Cake had these frostings on them which gave it a crunchy texture, making the cake more enjoyable to eat. Their Blueberry Danish tasted like a standard Danish, but just slightly harder, as they were taken straight out of the chilly glass display. Perhaps leaving it outside for a bit longer would have helped thaw the cake out, and I believe this would’ve improved the eating experience. So if you happen to eat here, request for your Danish to be left outside for a bit longer before having it delivered to your table 👍🏻. As for the coffee… it was okay.. Did it give me the authentic coffee experience? No, probably not, and I would’ve honestly preferred homemade coffee, but hey, if you can spare Rp. 100k for it, then do so at your own discretion, because the coffee was honestly not life-changing. It was just fine.
Service: 6/10 • I’m not sure what goes on in the staff training sessions, or whether it’s a staff policy, but these employees often act or just feel snobbish. I know the restaurant looks expensive (and so is the food 💀), but hey, you don’t own the place, you just work there, so relax yourself. Also, when we went there, we had several bags with us, but when we asked for a table for 3 people, the waiter directed us to a table with just 3 chairs, which theoretically would only fit 2 people, since the third chair would be used for our bags. Despite this, the waiter used a very assertive tone when serving us, which almost made us feel guilty of requesting a different table. Ultimately we did sit somewhere else, however that waiter’s attitude slightly tainted our impression, and hopefully this situation doesn’t repeat itself for future customers.
Atmosphere: 5/10 The restaurant looks great. So great it almost distracted from the fact that the service and food are bang average. The abundance of ACs made the place a bit cold, so remember to bring a coat or jacket when you go here. Oh, and bring headphones too because it can get pretty loud in here. Something about the resto’s atmosphere makes people not know how to act. They laugh and screech like they own the place, with no regard for other customers. Maybe they’re rehearsing for the roles of evil aristocrats from the new Downton Abbey broadway show. If so, then let me know where I can find the tickets because I honestly doubt it’s more expensive than going...
Read moreBe aware when taking away their pastries. Was excited to have Bacha Coffee open here in Jakarta and decided to stop by after work. The place is very nice with a nice atmosphere. Quite a long queue to dine in so I decided to just take away their croissants. Made a simple order and went to pay. During payment they confirmed with the staff at the pastry section that 2 out of 4 of my original order was no longer available and instead had to change my order. Wasn't exactly thrilled but since I was already there, I agreed and paid. While waiting very long for my 4 items, turns out there was some issues with the takeaway order from the lady in front of me. Apparently she had been promised a special packaging if she purchased a dozen croissants or so but instead got regular packaging in paper and paper bag since the special packaging was out of stock despite her buying just for that packaging. When I finally got my order I was told 3 out of 4 were sold out and I had to settle for whatever flavor they had left now. How is that possible when the cashier already confirmed with the staff at my time of payment? I directly paid and waited for my order. Please work on your communication and workflow. For such a nice looking place & rather premium brand, making customers settle for less - not getting what we were promised when we paid for, is really not acceptable. Highly...
Read moreI would like to raise a complaint regarding my visit to Bacha Coffee earlier today, which I found far below expectations for a high-end and renowned coffee shop in Jakarta.
Firstly, when I entered the shop, none of the staff greeted me, making the atmosphere feel cold and unwelcoming. Additionally, I felt that there was a noticeable difference in how customers were treated, which gave the impression that the service lacked sincerity and professionalism.
When I asked for the bill to pay, I had to remind the staff 2-3 times before it was finally brought to me. This was quite disappointing, especially considering the standards I expect from a place like Bacha Coffee.
The worst part was when I was leaving. There were several staff members standing at the front of the coffee shop, but none of them said “thank you for coming” or any kind of farewell. To me, this shows a lack of attention to customer experience.
Overall, while the coffee was excellent, the service I experienced today was poor and needs improvement. I hope management can address this issue and improve the quality of service to prevent such experiences...
