Bamsae 밤새 — Restaurant in Jakarta

Came here around 12PM, the parking lot was spacious & empty. Entering the restaurant, you will be greeted by the waitress and asked to scan PeduliLindungi. The place wasn’t that spacious and some tables are occupied. The waitress offered me any seat which was available. Since I came alone it was a bit hard to find a “comfortable” seat and in the end I chose a seat near the pillar and facing the kitchen. After some time I decided to move to another table by requesting to the waitress, and I heard she murmured “tadi kan udah ditawarin”. Was a bit ☹️ but I just let it go.

I heard that the food here is served with a big portion. Beforehand I read the reviews, the best selling menu is their pork. Since I don’t eat pork, I was a bit confused on what to eat but then decided to order Cheese Dakgalbi. Waiting time around 15-20 minutes. They gave you free flow mineral water in a jug. As seen in photos, the portion was big with lots of cheese. It looks very oily as so much oil pools on the pan 😞 When the food came, it wasn’t piping hot as it was just recently cooked but it’s okay. The taste was so so, it doesn’t have that strong flavor. After eating 3/4 of the food I just can’t continue as it taste like I’m eating chicken coated with oil so I decided to take it home. As I looked on the reviews, I guess other customer didn’t experience the same thing as I had with my Dakgalbi 😔

The waitress was considerate with how she packed my food. She made sure that it was packed safely so the food won’t leak anywhere if something bad happen (which was really good thing to do 😊)

Ah almost forgot. I also bought Yangnyeom Gejang in a jar. It was the first time I was eating raw crabmeat. The seller (which is the owner) was very informative about how to handle, carry and eat the Gejang. The taste was good...

It’s my umpteenth visit to Bamsae and it’s safe to say they never disappoint. Kalo lagi ngidam makanan Korea, tapi bukan korbeq, Bamsae will always be on the top of my mind. Their fried chicken super ngangenin sih 🥹

• 𝙎𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 & 𝙃𝙤𝙩 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞 𝙁𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙣 (198𝙠) ✨✨ This time round, I decided to give their newest fried chicken flavor a try!! I love the “snowing” one, it’s umami and a bit sweet (but still tolerable). This one is a dry version, karena mereka pake bubuk untuk bumbunya. The hot chili one lebih basah karena mereka pakai saus. It’s not THAT hot, entah kenapa it’s giving me hot soy garlic flavor. I very much prefer the snowing one tho hehehe lebih gurih. Fried chicken mereka selalu juicy and well seasoned, very well done!! 💯❤️

• 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙜𝙮𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙖𝙡 (180𝙠) ✨ The combination between the grilled pork belly and grilled kimchi was chef kiss!! I love the fact that the pork belly isn’t stinky at all, but it can be a tad bit more flavorful tho. Porsinya lumayan gede, it’s 250gr, dan buat bertiga jujur lumayan pas.

• 𝙏𝙩𝙚𝙤𝙠𝙗𝙤𝙠𝙠𝙞 𝙊𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙨𝙚 (175𝙠) ✨ Tteokbokki mereka juga enak!! Kinda wish it’s a bit more chewy, tapi masih oke kok overall. They’re very generous with the cheese and topping-nya pun rame. They have sliced beef, gimari, and some fish cake. Their tteokbokki is a safe choice as well ;)

• 𝙊𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙅𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙠𝙗𝙖𝙗 (35𝙠) Nothing special, ordered this for an extra shot of carbs. Agak sedih karena 1 or 2 balls weren’t rolled perfectly.

• 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙗𝙪 𝙅𝙟𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙩 (125𝙠) Didn’t give this a try. My friend said it’s good but...

Bamsae. Found this Chimaek (Korean restaurant) which is not only serving great quality and taste of food but also is great for socializing. We ordered Snowing chicken. The sweet cheese powder taste blends well with beer. 4.8 stars Yangnyeom chicken. The fried chicken is keeping its crisp (not soggy) despite being mixed with sweet and hot sauce. 4.8 stars Yangnyeom gejang. This is Korean delicacy (raw crabs marinated in sweet spicy sauce). Honestly I was having hard time to enjoy raw crab. It taste good actually. 4.2 stars Jjangmyeon. This is one of the best jjangmyeon in Jakarta. The black bean sauce is just right. The myeon is perfectly cooked. 4.9 stars Original Tteokbokki. It was abit hot but very nice. The fish cake and rice cake are perfectly cooked. 4.7 stars Maneul galbi sal. The beef is abit hard. It was served with wrapping veggie (ssam). Nothing special 4.0 stars Banchan is nice but with very limited variety. Free fried chicken skin when ordering bottle of beer. The service standard and atmosphere is acceptable, typical of Chimaek (i didnt expect 5 stars service in this kind of restaurant). My overall personal rating for this place is 4.7/5.0 stars. Highly recommended for having great foods while socializing (in formally) with friends. PS the signage of the restaurant is covered (mostly) by the parked cars in front of restaurant. You might miss it during busy hours or at night. The building has large Momo sign, reflexology business on...
