Chung Gi Wa — Restaurant in Jakarta

I came to Chung Gi Wa on the 11th of November for lunch. Even though it was around peak time where people are normally eating lunch at that time, it wasn’t that crowded and I was able to get a seat for 5 people. The interior had a touch of traditional Korean vibe mix with the modern decoration. We ordered 3 different types of beef and bowls of rice. We were served banchan (side dishes) such as pajeon (fried pancake), kimchi, sweet potato and etc. The service was also really good as they offered to cook our meat on our table and the food came out faster than expected. However, their staff was not very responsive as I had to wait for around 10 minutes for the pancake refill. Been a long time since the last time i'm visiting Chung Gi Wa. For this visit for dinner, i'm gonna ordered a few menus like Yangnyeom Gui 양념구이 (pork loin with Chung Gi Wa special sauce), Samgyeobsal 삼겹살 (pork belly), Pork Japchae 잡채 (glass noodle with sautéed vegetables, where you can choose the meat topping between Pork / Beef) and Galbitang 갈비탕 (short rib soup made primarily from beef short ribs along with stewing beef, radish, onions, and other ingredients). As usual, their Korean barbecue never disappointing. Japchae also nice as usual. It's my first time tried their Galbitang, and surprisingly I like it even though it's looks kinda bland, however still enjoyable for me. Good kbbq at a reasonable price. Nice ambiance to the place, overlooking indomart tower.

The pork platter starts at Rp 400,000 and is more than enough for a party of two. The LA galbi is tasty and tender, although the sauce itself is a bit on the sweet side. The galbitang has a strong beefy flavor, but in my opinion, falls a bit short on the flavor of onions that would have really pushed it into being a spectacular dish.

Overall, it is a good value for money kbbq for a quick, satisfying dinner or a longer night out with friends.

P.S: odeng and various other Korean street foods are served by the entrance of the restaurant. I did not get to try them this time around but they...
