I want to give 4.5 stars, but there's no .5 star in google... The ambient of the restaurant is good. Love the open kitchen. Their servers are ok, quite helpful.
Their food are very tasty. They're really not afraid to spice their food up. The menu I recommend here is their Nasi goreng kambing (or lidah if you don't like lamb). Their nasi goreng kambing taste different than most nasgor kambing where they use curry powder, this one has no hint of curry powder whatsoever. This is where I deduct the mark from 5 star to 4.5 star. The Nasi goreng kambing at Java Negra (same group and owner as Daun Muda) somehow taste far superior from here, although they should actually taste the same. The lamb was a bit gamy, where in Java Negra the lamb was not gamy at all. This fried rice comes with green chilli sauce... and again, the one at Java Negra taste better and more fresh.
I also recommend their Sate Ayam Manado. Their chicken skewer is very juicy and their dabu-dabu sauce is very refreshing.
Another menu I recommend is their Urat sapi oseng cabe ijo. This one is a little bit more spicy than other food we ordered but this is so good.
We ordered smoked beef tounge. If you like thick cut cow tongue, this one is for you.
For vegetable we ordered terong balado with shrimp, this one was ok.
Iga bakar hitam manis was good. They made their wagyu beef rib fell off the bone.
Their sop buntut is ok, I've tasted better elsewhere.
One menu I don't really like is their Ijo royo royo (smoked chicken with green chilli). The smoky flavor from the chicken is very overpowering. There were 6 of us eating at the time, and this was our least favorite menu.
I recommend ordering a side of white rice, because their food are very flavorful and white rice would balance the flavor.
Although their food is a bit on the expensive side, they give a generous...
Read moreIn early January, came here for a New Year's team dinner at this restaurant with about 14 people. The food was excellent, but the service was surprisingly poor for a supposedly fancy place. There was little friendliness from the staff, a lack of smiles and hospitality. Their team leader (i think, because the staff asking to her permission) lady also lack of hospitality and seemed intimidating. Why aren't they giving their best smiles to greet and provide a more friendly atmosphere? They are not directly rude, but this is not the level of service we should expect from a restaurant of this class. They should have better training for customer service excellence.
I asked one of the staff if I could get a refill for my hot tea, and he said it was allowed. So I ordered it. However, when I later requested a refill for my English Breakfast (or earl grey sorry forgot but for their special tea), the team leader say it wasn't allowed to that staff. Then none of the staff bothered to inform me politely; they just acted like nothing happened LOL. At least the staff could have come to me and informed me that, unfortunately, there's no refill available. I will understand that one staff member gave me the wrong information. I know that there's no refill because they were communicating near our table; I could watch them from quite a near distance.
Oh yes, the staff all standing in line and watching the customer. Maybe it will help them monitor the customer, but it feels quite intimidating. Like during dinner chit-chat, there's a bunch of people staring at you.
To make matters worse, the parking area was awful – limited space with no valet service. It took me nearly an hour to get out of their parking lot LOL.
Sorry, but I'll reconsider 10 times before coming back, even though the food...
Read moreWent to Daun Muda Soulfood for dinner with a friend after battling the infamous traffic, and let’s just say, I was starving. Booked a table in advance, but when we got there, only about four small groups were dining. So, no need to rush for reservations after all! 😅
I didn’t bother scanning the menu too much and asked for recommendations instead..pretty much what we ordered. First up, Rusip Daun Muda was quite good, nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable. The Nasi Goreng Seafood was the highlight..my Chinese-Singaporean friend agreed it was top-notch, reminding us of Chinese-style fried rice, full of flavor and perfectly cooked.
Then came the Sambal Mangga, which was just okay. It had potential but was too mild for my liking, didn’t pack that punch I expected. The Cumi Goreng, unfortunately, was a flop..small squid pieces with a batter that didn’t quite work, and I could barely taste the squid.
I was most excited about the Sop Buntut, but this was the biggest letdown. The portion size was decent, but the broth was bland, lacking the rich spices that make oxtail soup shine. Honestly, we didn’t even finish it, which says a lot because I usually love Sop Buntut.
Finally, the Sate Maranggi Wagyu Marble 9..I had high hopes for this dish, but sadly, they messed up what should’ve been a premium cut of meat. It made me wonder if it was even the high-quality wagyu they claimed it to be.
One thing that puzzled me..I saw a bunch of glowing reviews about their fish dishes. If the fish is that good, why didn’t the waiter recommend it? Missed opportunity there, I think.
Overall, the experience was just... meh. The food didn’t live up to the premium price tag, and for what they offer, it felt a bit overpriced. Could’ve been better, but I left feeling...
