If you're in South Jakarta and looking for a truly authentic chinese food dining experience, Fajar Restaurant is the place to be. Nestled in the bustling area of Melawai, this restaurant is not just about the food; it’s about the whole vibe.
Firstly, location close to some hangout spots, making it easy to grab a bite after a fun day with family or friends.
The flavors are on point and exquisitely balanced. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Ayam Nanking. It's the best I've ever had. The sauce is a delightful blend of Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, soy sauce (both salty and sweet), and an exotic mix of spices that just work together magically.
Then there was the “Taoge ikan Asin” Not only does it look fantastic, but it tastes amazing too. It’s crunchy, fresh, and the flavors are exactly how you’d want them – on point.
“Ayam Pe Camke” deserves a mention too. The chicken is super tender and wonderfully flavorful. It’s that perfect combination of soft and savory that makes you want more with every bite.
“Gurame Tahu Masak Tausi” The fish is unbelievably tender, harmoniously paired with the rich tau si and savory sauce. It’s the kind of dish that leaves a lasting impression.
The prices are fair, and the service is friendly and quick, which is always a plus. Whether you’re a foodie, a casual diner, or someone just looking for a great spot to eat and chat, Fajar Restaurant will not disappoint. It’s a hidden gem in South Jakarta that...
Read moreThe prices in overall are way too over rated and expensive for the portions served on the table. We ordered a large portion Bistik Ayam which the waitress claimed would fit for 9 persons but the actual portion was so small and not even enough to be shared for 4 persons, and for this later on we found out that it was priced at IDR 132k++ (not incl. Tax & service charges).
There is no information about the portion size and price on the menu so you will be surprised by bill you'd have to settle at the end of your visit. Unless you would not mind with the ridiculous prices which you will only find out when you are about to settle your bill (e.g a glass of lemon tea is priced at 31k + tax & service charge), Fajar is not a recommended place to dine in .
Would I return?...
Read moreIt’s a longstanding establishment renowned for its authentic Chinese cuisine and nostalgic ambiance. If I’m not mistaken, it was established in the 1980s and it offers a classic dining experience.
One of many highlights was their Ayam Rebus Hainam: Tender, flavorful chicken served with a fragrant blend of sesame oil, soy sauce, and garlic.
Ayam Nanking: Juicy yet crispychicken pieces cooked in a rich oyster sauce.
The restaurant's spacious seating arrangements suitable for family gatherings. Many tables are large round ones, enhancing the communal dining experience. While the decor may feel dated to some, it adds to the nostalgic atmosphere that many patrons appreciate.
