It was the first time that we visited Hai Seafood and most of the order was recommendations from staffs. But I was so sorry to say that the food value was not good. The service was great, the place was comfy and clearly quite an effort was placed for the ambiance. But I didn't share the same sentiments on the food and condiments.
The tomyam soup was a huge let down. Orange layer of oil dan almost transparent soup made question the name of the dish. I recalled the same soup produced from local prepackaged instant seasoning brand. The prawns, squid and mushroom was the only good thing from this Tomyam soup.
The same could be said with the taste of grilled fish. I felt the bastings and base sauce come from mass made prepackaged source. Even so, I expect more personal touch was given. I didn't think a thought of "Hey, everyone could make this at home" (in not so pleasant connotation) should pass on guests mind when dining.
The condiment section was okay until I tried the dabu-dabu. I lived in Manado for 5 years and I never find pinnaple on it. The puckering zesty taste came from vinegar and green tomatoes. Adding pinnaple might be considered as innovative but not all is good. The pinnaple addition was a huge head shaker.
We also ordered steamed grouper but did not have he stomach to continue. The take-out packaging was impressive, it was thoughtful to separate the sauce in different container and sealed the bag. Perhaps I orderrd the wrong dishes eventhough Tomyam soup and grilled fish was a...
Read moreDining at Hai Seafood Indonesia was a mixed experience for us. While we appreciated the freshness of the seafood served, we found the overall dining experience to be somewhat disappointing.
On the positive side, the seafood we ordered was undeniably fresh, reflecting the restaurant’s commitment to quality ingredients. From succulent prawns to tender fish, each dish showcased the natural flavors of the sea. The variety of seafood options available was impressive, allowing us to sample a diverse range of dishes.
However, we couldn’t overlook the drawbacks of our dining experience. The prices at Hai Seafood Indonesia were notably high, especially considering the portion sizes and the overall dining ambiance. While we expected to pay a premium for fresh seafood, we felt that the prices were somewhat overrated given the dining experience.
Service was another area where the restaurant fell short. Despite the relatively quiet evening, the service was surprisingly slow and inattentive. It took considerable time for our orders to be taken, and even longer for the dishes to arrive at our table. This sluggish service detracted from our overall enjoyment of the meal and left us feeling frustrated.
In conclusion, while Hai Seafood Indonesia offers fresh seafood options, the high prices and slow service may deter some diners. It’s worth visiting if you’re craving quality seafood, but be prepared for a less-than-ideal...
Read moreFood menu written for option fried / grilled need to be updated (saying some frozen fish is not able to hv some kind of style which actually written in the menu book) -- taste all yummie for main dishes but not for the dessert (we had Singkong Thailand but the textures was overcooked and not as what we expected)
Condiments sambal are all nice
Staff who are serving us is totally a big no (no smile, no apology and no attitude) -- if hearing her friends called her Santi (if we not mistakenly heard) : she incidentally slips the food gravy to our phone on the table (can see in the picture we posted, some gravy is in the edges) and not even say sorry, with no guilty feeling only wipe some of the gravy on the table, and when we thought she will come back and wipe the table more -- not at all, we do it ourselves with tissue & serving our food dishes without any smile on the face
Some insects / small bugs are around the table when food came
Price is more than the services we got eventhough taste for main dishes was good but not thinking back again if the services staff...
