I've been a fan of this restaurant as I have multiple visits on different occasions to enjoy Chinese hotpot with my family. The restaurant has a comfortable ambient and decorated elegantly, fitting of a Chinese restaurant. This restaurant also strictly adheres to health protocols imposed by the government with contact tracing, social distancing, with the dining tables and seats are readily disinfected for every customer.
Despite those, what happened today is really disheartening for me and negated all good values I've had about this restaurant. There's one customer which clearly acts against the imposed health protocols by putting spoon for public condiments to their mouth before returning it back without being reprimanded or warned (clip uploaded).
I called the staff to report the grotesque action performed by this customer yet the staff ignores me in disbelief. Luckily this didn't happen just once, so as the customer repeated their act, I recorded a video of them doing so. Afterwards, I called the staff again with proof and the staff who hardly watches the video decided it's the sugar before taking the condiment away for a replacement. This is a first for me to see a very "exceptional" service as they still didn't reprimand nor warn the customer (her parents / responsible adults) even after repeated offence and video evidence.
In addition, the whole recorded video shows that this customer didn't just go for a specific condiment. This staff didn't watch my recording until the end before selfishly decided it's the sugar and made a run for it. The staff also did not apologize on their behalf nor deliver words of gratitude after being informed to such inappropriate conduct.
In my honest opinion, a good restaurant not only serves exquisite delicacies but also prioritize HYGIENE for their customers. Even more so when the coronavirus pandemic isn't over yet.
I sincerely hoped this restaurant could improve on their service and be more responsible, as this current situations and conditions don't reflect on what I expected in consideration with the amound I paid.
I'm very disappointed, especially after inviting a friend and recommending this restaurant for a...
Read moreThis is my very first visit since I was recommended by a friend and this restaurant is within the same group as other excellent ones. Despite that, this restaurant clearly isn't worthy to belong in Hiro Group.
This is way below their standard if they let a child taste the condiments available, using the given spoon directly to their mouth, and then putting it back. Especially so when this restaurant is considered a high-class Chinese restaurant located in a luxurious area. It is even clearer that there's a small plate available for you to take the condiment then bringing your mix to your table.
Reported once and the restaurant staff did nothing to the "perpetrator" or their parents except picking a random condiment before (hopefully) switching it with a new one. Without being reprimanded which means no lessons learnt for the child, they repeated. Luckily I had my camera ready to show as proof, reported it, and yet again the staff picks a random condiment to (hopefully) switch, still without warning to their parents nor telling the child to not do it.
That said, this child even annoys a few other customer which has their own happy occasion to celebrate by walking around since their parents didn't seem to care.
While I always recommended Hiro Group restaurants (e.g. Sushi Hiro, The Garden), I won't ever recommend this one. The impact is definitely huge, considering this is my first visit while the country is still recovering from the pandemic. I am not someone who put hygiene in the highest priority, but this definitely crosses my bottom line.
Verdict: If you're going to pay upwards of $50 per person to eat other salivas... You're welcome to try. I personally recommend against this restaurant as there are many with comparable quality and...
Read moreIt's a great place with good authentic chinese hot pot, but the service is just so deplorable. Honestly, even asking to refill our tea is taking more than 5 minutes. Please read the rest.
On my last visit and probably the one and only visit, it started out as fine, the place is great, very picturesque, the seating quick too and the order taking is fast. Then another group came, and keep coming 1-1 until the table is crowded, people squeezing together without following the covid protocol!!! That's strike 1, then one of our food came so late until we finished eating even after asking about it several times, that strike 2. LASTLY, we ask for our leftovers to be warp for take out since it was still a lot, it took almost 30 mins to be warp!!! And when we got home, the bag was filled with only SOUP no meatballs and others. What the hell was that!!!
The next day, I wanted to heat up the soup and adding some of my own filling, guess what, it was spoiled, and when I poured it down the drain, there were MEAT BITS. I believe that our soup was accidentally thrown away and was changed with another leftovers from other people table since obviously if the meat bits was still there then the huge meatballs should be left too. It was so disqusting, I never want to go back there again.
I hope you would not have the same experience as me and enjoy...
