Junsei Izakaya & Listening Bar — Restaurant in Jakarta

Had an amazing omakase dinner at Junsei. The restaurant is tucked away on the 2nd floor and can't really be seen from the outside, so it feels a bit hidden, but the inside is super cozy. We had the omakase, and every dish was fantastic! The cucumber & carrot salad and fried chicken skin as appetizers were a great start. Their yakitori was delicious, but the highlight was definitely the chicken neck skewer—juicy, tender, and crispy on the outside, instantly our favorite. Even the innards, which I don’t usually eat, tasted surprisingly good. The rice bowl made the meal really fulfilling, and by the end, I was so full. Dessert was a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, a perfect finish. I also had a gin, yuzu, and honey cocktail (I think it’s called Bee’s Girl)—a bit watery but still tasty.

This place is a hidden gem in the Senopati area, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle around.

The atmosphere is outstanding, but what truly impressed me was the incredible food and drinks. I was deeply moved by how the chefs incorporate ingredients and seasonings they studied and brought from Japan, using their skills to bring out the best in every dish.

The yakitori with tare sauce paired perfectly with sake — absolutely divine! Their cocktail selection is also creative and fun to explore.

Junsei was an incredible dining experience from any and every standpoint. Immediately I was drawn in by the beautiful and inviting decor and interior design. The aroma of the charcoal grill fills the room as people mingle and enjoy the delicious food and drinks.

Their skewers are the best I’ve had, and it is evident of their mastery of the craft, as they use every part of the chicken and turn it into something delicious.
