I know this place from a content on tiktok. Came here around 4ish pm on friday, the parking lot was empty and we were the only guest (Must pay valet parking 25k eventho it was empty parking space). We sit in the bar, where we can see the cook (or bartender? lol) cutting fish etc. They have lots of options in the menu, and by looking at the price I was expecting a properly served, proper portion and superb taste. When I saw oyster on the menu and I love oysters, I asked the cook where the oysters coming from. He said its imported directly from hokkaido japan. I asked how come it says “fresh” on the menu when it comes from so far away, he goes “of course by plane” without explaining how they keep it fresh. He only continued “explaining” it by saying they have fresh oyster and frozen oyster. How come as the frontliner has no idea of explaining the prime menu.. geez. Anyway, since it was hot outside and they have soba in the menu, I asked the server if I want the soba cold is it served over a bamboo strainer (as it should be properly served in Japan and other japanese restaurants I’ve been to). The server said the serve cold zaru soba just in a regular bowl. Quite disappointing considering this is a japanese restaurant with high price point and I’ve had properly served zaru soba in other japanese restaurant with more affordable price, with very good taste. Then since they seem very proud with the oyster thats imported direct from hokkaido, so I decided to order the oyster gratin. The server said the oyster is frozen, not the fresh one and I am ok with that. When my order is served, I was speechless that with 160k++ I only get 1 single oyster and it taste mediocre. I’ve had fresh oysters with much affordable price and much nicer place than this. Totally not recommended,...

Went there for an 8 pm dinner reservation; our alarm bells should have rung when we were the only guests on all three floors.
Staff doesn’t speak any English; we had to revert back to Bahasa which is uncommon at restaurants of this price range.
Our birthday celebration which was mentioned during the booking process was not honored at all; no happy birthday no nothing. Absolutely disappointing when you compare how friendly and active other restaurants are to make your day special.
Waiters removed food ( hotpot ) very quickly while we were still eating and still had food inside of it - taken into consideration that the place was empty and they wouldn’t close for a long time it felt like they wanted to get rid of us.
Taste of food was alright but menu felt very limited beyond starters and snacks and consequently was rather disappointing.
We clicked some nice pics but agreed that we wouldn’t come again nor recommend...
Read moreIf you love authentic sushi then you have to try their sushi and sashimi. I was surprised to learn that Kurune is part of Sumibi group, as Sumibi is my favorite modern fusion Japanese restaurant. Now, Kurune is also my favorite restaurant for authentic sushi.
The seafood are super fresh and cut with the perfect size and thickness for sushi and sashimi. I also tried their dorayaki mont blanc which was served in an interesting way and also tastes really good. The service here is also excellent and the waiters are friendly and professional.
The area is very spacious as they have 3 floors of seating. The best seat is in the sushi counter as you can watch the chefs make their sushis. I also love the place at night as it gives off a mixed vibe of a bar and a traditional Japanese restaurant. Only complaint I have is that people are allowed to smoke in the...
