I recently had the pleasure of dining at Man Man, and I must say it was an absolute unagi extravaganza. As a fervent fan of Japanese cuisine, I had high expectations, and Man Man surpassed them in every way.
From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, the lively and energetic atmosphere set the stage for a remarkable dining experience. The staff at Man Man were friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about their craft. They promptly seated me and guided me through the menu with enthusiasm.
Now, let’s get to the star of the show—Man Man’s unagi. It was an absolute revelation! The eel was grilled to perfection, with a tantalizing smoky aroma that immediately whetted my appetite. The unagi itself was tender and succulent, with a delectable char that added a delightful crunch. The secret sauce, made in-house, was an absolute masterpiece, striking a harmonious balance between savory and sweet flavors.
Man Man takes pride in their commitment to quality, and it shows in every aspect of their dishes. The unagi was sourced fresh and expertly prepared by skilled chefs who clearly possess a deep understanding of their craft. The attention to detail was apparent in every bite, making it an unforgettable culinary experience.
Beyond the extraordinary unagi, Man Man offers a range of mouthwatering Japanese delights. I highly recommend trying their flavorful miso soup and their delectable sashimi platter, which showcased the freshest, most pristine fish.
Overall, my visit to Man Man was an absolute delight. With their exceptional unagi, warm hospitality, and dedication to culinary excellence, it’s no wonder they have garnered such a stellar reputation. If you’re a fan of unagi or Japanese cuisine, a visit to Man Man is an...
Read moreSo, honestly, I didn't plan on going to Man Man Unagi that day. I actually wanted to hit up Momo Paradise, but it was closed 😅 So, I thought, "why not give Man Man Unagi a shot?"
Looking at the menu, I was taken aback because their unagi don was pricey in my opinion. 🤑 It ranged from 400 to 900-something bucks, if I recall right. And if you want a bigger unagi, more $$$. So, I played it safe and ordered the smallest portion (¼) of unagi and also got myself a sushi roll.
When the food arrived, the smell hit me like, "Eat me now!" 😋 I gotta say, they had some unique ways to eat the unagi don: Eat it with the rice. Mix the rice with seaweed, spring onion, and grated wasabi, and then gobble it down with the unagi. Slurp up the unagi with the rice and their broth. Throw everything together and go wild!
In my humble opinion, the best way was to chow down the unagi with just the rice, and I kept the broth on the side. That way, the flavors weren't battling, and I could savor each element.
As for the unagi, it was undeniably fresh and sweet (probably because they used sweet soy sauce). Since it was grilled, there was a delightful smoky sensation while chewing the unagi.
The broth had a light taste, similar to miso soup, and they served it in a teapot that kept it warm until I finished my meal. Well done on that front.
The place itself had a pretty chill vibe – not jam-packed, but some folks trickled in every now and then. Seems like they're doing alright business-wise.
So, you gotta give this spot a try every now and then. Yeah, it might cost you a bit, but if you got the cash, go here every day! It's legit...
Read moreA rainy birthday called for a warm, comforting escape, and Man Man Unagi brought us to a new level of culinary delight.
It was raining when we got there hence the traffic jam and quiet parking lot. The parking lot can only accommodate two cars. Must use valet parking or just take a taxi or other means of transportation to avoid the hassle.
Stepping inside, we were greeted by genuine warmth, both from the staff and the Sakura-kissed decor. Wooden accents and live eels peeking from a corner instantly transported us to Japan.
As the name implies, unagi is the star here, and we dove into a variety of bento sets. We dove into the bento sets, an array of culinary delights presented on beautiful trays. My feast featured melt-in-your-mouth eel alongside tender ika (squid), while my friend's opted for a beef-unagi duet. Salmon, both solo and partnered with eel, rounded out the table's choices. Each set boasted fresh wasabi, ready for us to grate to our own personal fire.
The eel had no trace of earthiness, just a crispy exterior that gave way to melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. Each bite was a feast, perfectly complemented by the fluffy, cloud-like rice and the zesty kick of freshly grated wasabi. We were in culinary heaven, so much so that our bellies, sadly, couldn't even dream of venturing into the world of desserts.
As a white-collar worker, I admit the price tag at Man Man Unagi isn't a daily indulgence. But for this experience, for this taste of Japan in every bite, it was worth every...
