I ordered Kimuchi Nabe (soup) and Konbu Onigiri while my friend got Tofu Wakame Salad and Soriresu Kushiyaki (grilled chicken/skewers). The food was SCRUMPTIOUS, I'm saying likeee?? I ordered Chanko Nabe here before and it was amazing, so I tried the other "Nabe" and this one has meat. It may look spicy but not at all! The soup was refreshing and energizing, the meat was tender and easy to chew. Konbu Onigiri is nothing special but the simplicity really touches my soul, it was really delicious as it is. I tried my friend's dishes and it was delicious as well (obviously). The salad was so fresh, the vegetables were so refreshingly crunchy if you understand what I mean, the tofu was sooo soft, and the salad dressing tasted really good that it matches with the vegetables and all. The Soriresu Kushiyaki was great as well, the meat still juicy and easy to chew. I also ordered ice cream mochi for dessert, I got the vanilla ones while my friend got the strawberry ones. The vanilla ones taste just like vanilla flavor, the mochi layer was not that thick but not too thin as well just in the right proportion. The strawberry mochi has real strawberries inside, so yummy. And they served it with a piece of oreo. Then for the service they gave us Coffee Jelly, it was SOOOOO DELICIOUS that I can die peacefully after eating that. Previously when I came here they also served jelly as their service but it was another jelly, but this time I got coffee jelly and it was the best thing that ever happened in my life. This place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, they wrote "no pork no lard" but not halal certified since they served alcohol. If you're okay with the "ambiguous" halal food or don't really care if it's halal certified then this place is for you! I recommend you to eat with many people as most of their food is enjoyable to consume for more than one person (they have a...

Amajio sujiko - salmon roe still in the sac, 40 K IDR++. Beautiful fresh salmon roe in its matrix. Lightly seasoned with soy sauce, the dish tastes fresh and refreshing with little bursts of a slightly fishy aftertaste with each pop just to remind you that you are eating fish eggs.
Subsequently, the mochi ice cream line (pictured is the rum and raisin) is definitely worth the price tag of 28 K IDR++ with its light creaminess - it could do with a bit more of a kick, but really at this price it's probably as good it gets. The kaisen yakiudon is quite interesting, but what is of note is the amount of dried mini shrimps and shredded dried skipjack tuna that really amps up the umami.
Also of special note is the Kousou salad which is nice, fresh, and colorful at 39 K IDR++. Finally, the hotategai or scallop sashimi is probably the best pieces of raw scallop you can get for 80 K IDR++.
It is perhaps relevant to note how the soy sauce, soba dipping sauce, and "faux" wasabi here is also much better than most other sushi places in Jakarta, so that may also be a factor that elevates this sushi place over other options in the area. Therefore, although the price is slightly more expensive than most average sushi restaurants, but i must say that it is kind of worth...
Read moreLittle Tokyo in Jakarta is in Melawai. There is so much history in the area with Japanese expats, food and culture. Many Japanese restaurants here are owned by .. wait for it … Japanese. Kaihomaru is an old establishment that has been popular by locals and expats, you can expect fresh sashimi and sushi. Authentic Japanese dishes. Private rooms are available, please make a reservation to secure your room. Service is excellent. Try their moriawase, fish are vary from time to time. Premium fish and cuts are rare, you should ask the chef what’s good for today. Price is decent, similar to other Japanese establishment in the area. Parking spot is a bit hard to find on the weekends. Wave your 10K to parking-maester (the one with blue uniform) then you’re in a good hand. I haven’t tried their sake but you can bring your own with a corkage. If not, Bintang/Bali Hai is a must to wash your pain from working your arse off....
