KFC — Restaurant in Jakarta

As beloved as it is, fried chicken is one of those recipes that many people are afraid to make for themselves. If you’ve ever considered making fried chicken at home, you’ve likely noticed that the easiest recipes aren’t as good, but that many restaurant recipes are far too complex. I, myself, am a homemade fried chicken evangelist — sure, it takes time and effort, but the results are always worth the mess you’ll make.

KFC had all the makings of a sleeper hit: the mustard in the marinade, cornmeal for crispness in the coating, and fat for frying. And the taste of the finished chicken was super-flavorful and juicy; it just wasn’t the typical spicy-peppery flavor you’d expect. Unfortunately, the chicken pieces got really browned (almost burnt) in the fat (which is both expensive and hard to find), and tasters really disliked the cornmeal texture.

While KFC is best known for its reputable research, their recipes often prioritize science over simplicity, and this recipe is no exception. The recipe is good in theory, delivering tender chicken with an uber-crisp crust, but ultimately it lacked in flavor. Two floors plus extra open terrasse (for folks who are amoking). Ground level standard KFC --second level Café with mentioned terrasse. Coffee surprisingly good and served in mugs upon request. Parking space for cars very limited and crowded but at the side road there is some space - however a couple.of minutes of walk which most people in Jakarta don't like because they ALL want to park in front of the door and basically fall with one step into the shop. Toilets are located at the first floor and just so-so -in case of the male bathroom. All the ceric is stained - not dirty but stained which makes it dirty and not inviting looking. Expected more of a large chain as KFC. Counter service is rather slow for a fast food place - I had to wait in line for almost 10 minutes and then again another 5 minutes to get my french fries - but regardless of the queue of clients only two out of the four existing counters were open - and that close to lunch time. Chicken was average with other kfc. Side dishes (mashed potatoes, coleslaw) portions were tiny even for a local (don't recommend, just get rice lol). French Fries were semi crispy but slightly bland. Cream soup was decent. Drink had more ice than usual. Came in the morning and they couldn't take online payments (QRIS, etc.) or even card, so I had to go find an atm... Prepare some cash just in case. Also place wasn't that clean, though you'd expect it to be most clean in the morning before the majority of customers. Wanted to chill for a while but ended up leaving as soon as I finished eating due to smell, etc. Price also seems to be on the higher end due to strategic location.
