For the steep price, you would expect a much higher standard of pastries. The selection is relatively small (compared to what you would get at the Raffles or Westin Hotel) but this would be forgivable if they actually tasted good, which was not the case at all. The 2 small scones with Chantilly cream were the only good thing to eat in this entire set – even still, the scones were a little dry. It comes with a lemon curd which does not pair well, so we asked for a raspberry jam which was much better. In the next drawer came the sandwiches. The smoked salmon finger sandwiches were fine, but the egg mayo sandwiches were barely filled. The brie in the cheese sandwich was tasteless. The next drawer had some mini chocolate pots filled with banana crème and coffee soil – bearable but the crème was too sweet. The blueberry tartlet casing was underbaked and hence soft and crumbly – this was the issue with all of their tartlets. All of the cakes on the top layer were awful. The person in charge of making sponge cake must be retrained! All the sponge was dry and lifeless, which did not help cakes that were disgustingly sweet and flat in flavor. No pride was put into the cakes whatsoever. The lychee marshmallow-like tart with desiccated coconut was so pudding-y and sweet, it was inedible. The only mildly passable thing was the green kaya cake which had a nice strong pandan flavour. That chocolate-glazed cake atop a ‘biscuit’ base was bad – the base was neither biscuity nor soft and spongy, just chewy and dry. I saved our delicious morrocan mint tea and hot chocolate for last to wash away this sugary nightmare. It’s a shame as people pay a good amount for this with nothing to show for it except maybe pictures and some nice...
Read morePeacock Lounge is a comfortable lounge with friendly service in Fairmont Hotel. It is located not far from the lobby. Peacock Lounge is famous with their afternoon tea package that is served in a drawer and their éclair as well.
They provide both of the sweet and savory éclairs along with the tea, coffee, and another beverages including beer.
Here are what I tried :
Hazelnut Éclair (IDR 60,000) The biggest éclair that I've ever tried so far 😄 This big and thick recommended éclair from Peacock Lounge consists of hazelnut cream, 64% dark chocolate, and milk chocolate. It tastes so good and less sweet as well. Recommended!
Iced Americano (IDR 60,000) They use illy coffee (an Italian brand). I requested it without sugar. This is my first time drinking illy coffee. I like the medium bitter taste from this black coffee.
Overall, this was a good experience to be here. Peacock Lounge is a very recommended place to have a pretty...
