VIEW Steak Bar — Restaurant in Jakarta

Went for dinner without any reservation. Was told the place was fully booked and the server asked if it was ok for us to sit at the K22 Bar Terrace which was outdoor without aircon instead of waiting for a table in the restaurant. We went with the seating at K22 Bar Terrace and we could order food from View to be served there.

Luckily the night was windy and not hot to sit outdoor. We ordered some appetizers and a couple of mains.

Wagyu Rump Bites (8.5/10) - Great recommendation by the male server to order this dish. The wagyu meat was well seasoned and cooked tender. Compliments well with the garlic chips topping. A must order!

Blue Crab Tartare on Crackers (5/10) - Crab taste not prominent in the dish and kinda bland. Should reduce the serving of crackers and portion up the crab meat. Lack of acidity too to bring out the sweetness of crab meat.

Grilled Scallops (8.5/10) - Plump scallops ans nicely cooked. Slightly seared on the edge and yet the meat still juicy and bouncy. The green apple and jalapeno sauce compliments well with the scallops and brought out the seafood sweetness. Must try dish!

Poached Pear Salad (8/10) - Another well thought dish. Very refreshing and appetizing salad.

Brussel Sprout (6/10) - The cook on the brussel sprouts were fine but the dressing/sauce sadly ruined the dish. Perhaps should serve the sauce separately if you wish. Too much sauce all over the brussel sprouts and overpowered the natural taste of the vege. And the sauce was too thick and intense (similar to BBQ sauce) which we felt was unpleasant. If without the sauce, will be 7/10.

Australian Black Angus Strip Loin (7/10) - We had it done in medium rare. Not the best steak we had when we came to View Steak for it, so it was kinda disappointing. No doubt the cook was okay but that was about it. Could do more with the char on the outside and abit more seasoning. The beef jus sauce didnt compliment well with the steak despite recommended by the server. We thought the wagyu rump was nicer than this steak.

Miso Glazed Barramundi (3/10) - The worst dish we had that night. Didnt like the overpowering miso glaze. Should use miso with caution cos of the strong taste. Fish was overcooked. Lack of acidity to counter the heavy sauce. Didnt enjoy this dish.

Overall, the bill came to about 2 million IDR with ++. Dining experience not the best cos we didnt get to sit in the View restaurant. Next time will book in advance. Servers were helpful and friendly. Didnt wait too long for the food to be served. Some hits and (more) misses...

This was the last evening in Jakarta and I offered my family to go out for a dinner. I googled the Internet and there were 2 restaurants with top * close to our hotel. I finally stopped at VIEW Bar restaurant at Fairmont hotel. I made a direct booking with Google Calander (for the 1st time) and it was a great positive experience for me I would say. It took us 40-50min drive and the taxi (I don’t know why) took us from the backside entrance )) We managed to go up to the 22 floor (or maybe higher do not remember) The place is really beautiful and you can see the Jakarta at night, however the bar is not an open area so when you look through the windows the bar lights retract the lights and you can’t see clear or make photos. We ordered Rid eye and strip loin steaks, 2 Lombok fish fillet, Miso glazed barramundi and 2 salads. We also orders 2 alcohol drinks an, mojito and 2 colas. Both fish dishes were excellent and delicious. However, we had some problems with the steaks. It wasn’t chewable, so we asked to fry little more and they did. It got better, but due to much fat in the steak portion it was still unchewable, so we left it. The atmosphere is great, service is excellent, however there are some issues with food to our taste. Overall, good place for your last day in Jakarta, but maybe you should ask for fish, not steaks. The total amount for the above was...

We had very good bread service of sourdough and truffle butter with salt which is absolutely amazing followed by our starter of scallops and mains of pork chop and grilled fish with miso.

Pretty good wine selections by glass or bottle to go down with your choice of steak and amazing hospitality and services, definitely a must try and come back spot in south jakarta. They even prepared us a cake for our anniversary event thank you so much for taking good care of our details 👍🥂

Access to this place is from the hotel main lobby also they have the outdoor bar with amazing views as well. Price wise this is a premium place as to be expected but considering all the aspects we get, this is still a great spot and...
