Legendary ayam goreng purveyor that used to be located in Jl. Hayam Wuruk.

I was recommended to this place by my friend who has Minang parents and was recommended to try their ayam goreng. We tried their ayam goreng, sayur daun singkong, dendeng, and tahu tauco.

The daun singkong was salty. The dendeng was nicely crispy. The tahu tauco was unique (never encountered this style of tahu dish in any other Padang place). Slightly creamy from coconut milk yet salty from the tauco. Sadly, they were out of the dendeng’s sambal by the time we arrived (at around 12:20pm). They were also sadly out of rendang by the time of our arrival.

The crown jewel here is the ayam goreng. They use ayam kampung, which can be tough when made as ayam goreng since ayam kampung is leaner than other chicken breeds. Their ayam goreng is perfectly marinated to the insides, and fried until the bones and skin are crispy, yet the meat inside were very tender and juicy. Absolute mastery of technique and recipe.

Are they the best Padang restaurant in town? Hard to say so. But they definitely have a unique identity and deserve their...

One of the legend restaurants in Jakarta and probably the oldest Padang restaurant in the city, too. They have ben around for 60+ years. I've been visiting them with my parents since I was a kid, at their previous original location. Had some funny memories here and it was a nostalgic taste, too.

Expect to have some queue during peak time. I came around 2pm and almost all of the food have sold out lol.

They are famous for the fried chicken, nasi rames, sambal merah, and rendang. They also have tunjang and limpa. The fried chicken was very crispy, so if you love a crispy chicken, this is the place to go. However, I prefer a chicken that is not dry and only lightly fried for healthy reason these days. And the rendang was very intense, but again I don't really enjoy the sweetnes much.

Simply said, the food was yummy as how it was before, but my taste bud and choices have changed along with time. It is still a recomended place in my opinion, and I will still go back in the future.

The owners are very friendly and they were still cooking and managing the restaurant actively, which is something very...

First time at this nasi padang store today for an authentic padang experience from padang. We were served by Adil, she recommended us all the best dishes at her shop. Very authentic and delicious. My favourite were the Ayam Bakar, tofu, fried chicken. The curry has a nice velvety texture. It’s very flavourful and homely. We had the chance to also try two types of chicken. The kampong chicken and the other type of chicken that is smaller than the normal broiler chicken. The meat is tasty and tender. Overall, I really love the service at this...
