Scarlett's Café Menteng — Restaurant in Jakarta

Came here on Thursday evening with my friend who has been longing to come to this trending place and yet here I was joining her knowing nothing since I just came back in town and redownloaded my capability to join the game. I think this place was a hidden gem although some things would be better to be improved.

The café was cute, compact, and doesn’t have a lot of seating while a lot of people came in and they would need to join the waiting list when the place was crowded enough. They put 'listening bar' as one of the descriptions although I would say it’s kinda hard even to listen to your friend’s talking because everyone was talking and making sounds but I believe it would be a real listening bar if the space is made not too narrow and more chill and relaxing. Overall, it was an okay experience for me.

Food-wise, I heard that all of their cakes/desserts were game changers than the savory dishes or the coffee menu even though I saw they were kinda pricey for a slice of cake so it’s either the place was not marketed for you or if you’re willing to spend more money for them because you enjoy trying delicious worthwhile cakes then go for it. Personally, I really love the honey cheesecake macaroons as the flavor was uniquely scrumptious as they put sliced tangy oranges inside the cheesecake cream and it saved the bites because if it was too sweet, it will taste just like the regular macaroons. For the poured tiramisu (or my friend calls it 'tiramisu siram’), it was good but not that special yet the cream saved the bites as well because it has a distinct flavor between all of the parts of the tiramisu itself. Would love to try the matcha one whether it will have a more unique flavor or not.

The service was great so the staff would put your name on the waiting list then you could order with the other staff as they wrote your orders and you could pay it. Once you're seated, the orders would come not too long. They put the system like this (although you're wait-listed) as they're afraid the cake stocks would be gone once you just got your seats. Ohh, also, the table was kind of small and the chair was a bit taller than the table so it was kind of funny for me to put my hands on the table while talking to my friend. They also have upstairs seating! And the building is together with a furniture store if you want to look around while waiting for your order or table.

Really recommended if you want to experience or explore a new trending place in town with scrumptious cakes and instagrammable space. I'd love to come back but I hope it won't be as crowded as my first-time experience so I could enjoy the place...

Hazelnut Earl Grey 60K Saturated with tea goodness, this has a stronger earl grey tone than the nutty flav of a hazelnut 🌰 Love the crunchy-crumbly tart base 🤎 Plus points, NOT TOO SWEET! 🙌🏻

Vegan Choco Orange Mousse 62K Coconut cream was incredibly light ☁️ Garnished beautifully with raisins and pistachio chunks, chocolate mousse resembles more of a hummus 🍫

Scarlett’s Café Menteng has made a smart and seamless transition from an intentional pop-up experience store into a full café — and the result is nothing short of impressive. The space remains true to the chic, homey charm of their Senopati outlet, now elevated with group-friendly dining and the addition of a private VIP room, making it a welcoming choice for family gatherings or business meetings.

Their revamped pastry showcase feels more like an art installation — sustainable, playful, and reflective of Scarlett’s quirky-elegant approach. The menu has also expanded with more savory dishes and protein-rich options, perfect for a hearty all-day brunch.

Highlights from my visit:

Garlic & Parmesan Madeleine — still the finest in town, unmatched in texture and daring in flavor.

Beef Bacon & Cheese Eggscones — a delightful original creation, particularly the savory version.

Turkey & Avocado Toast — generous and deeply satisfying, rich with umami.

Salmon Remoulade 2.0 — a perfectly balanced brunch dish, elevated with crunchy hash browns.

Green Spinach Omelette — a revelation: creamy, comforting, and unexpectedly my favorite dish here, beautifully layered with avocado, feta, and salsa bomb.

The dessert selection is equally captivating — from fragrant Jasmine & Mixberry Cake and decadent Banana Pudding Tart, to a clever Pandan Cheesecake with Kuromitsu, each creation is thoughtful and indulgent. Yet the standout for me was the Honey Butter Pancake: double-baked for a crunchy crust yet buttery-soft inside, fragrant with maple and honey butter, balanced with salted butter and tangy yogurt crème fraîche. Quite possibly the best pancake in Jakarta right now.
