Setahun Kemarin Coffee aims for a unique blend of traditional Javanese aesthetics and modern industrial design. Unfortunately, the execution feels disjointed. The attempt at traditional decor, perhaps with antique furniture or traditional motifs, clashes with the stark, industrial elements, creating an unsettling visual dissonance.
The coffee itself is decent, but the lack of bean selection options is a significant drawback for serious coffee enthusiasts. Choosing from a limited menu can feel restrictive, especially when exploring the nuances of different roasts and origins is a key part of the coffee experience.
The service model, while perhaps efficient for quick orders, presents a significant challenge for those opting for manual brews. Carrying delicate glassware across the cafe increases the risk of spills and accidents. A more attentive service, with waitstaff delivering orders to tables, would enhance the overall customer experience.
Lastly, the presence of aggressive parking attendants ("preman") creates an unpleasant and intimidating atmosphere. Their rude behavior and inappropriate demands for tips are unacceptable and a major deterrent for returning customers.
Overall, Setahun Kemarin Coffee has the potential to be a charming and unique cafe. However, it needs to address the inconsistencies in its design, expand its coffee offerings, improve its service model, and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for...
Read moreAs a tourist from Florida USA, I enjoyed this coffee shop. After looking on Google maps for places to go in the local neighborhood my Indonesian wife's brother lives in, I chose this place based on Google maps reviews. The reviews were mostly all positive. I had to beg my wife to even go here. I review every place I go so others will have a decent idea from a customers perspective on how each establishment is. Even though we came in the heat of the day ( about 11:00 am), the atmosphere here was nice and welcoming. It's a good layout with plenty of seating for a very large number of people. They even have an upstairs area as well, it looks like, but I didn't visit that area. The two gentlemen working there were polite and attentive, and served us quickly with good manors. My wife and I both had frozen frappes, which were perfect after walking around in the sweltering heat. She had fried tofu, and I just had some fries 🍟 Which was just fine for my American tastes. They even had Lasagna, which I would definitely like to have tried, but I wasn't too hungry,so fries fit the belly just fine. This place looks like a good place for a family event or get together,or something like that. It looks like it would be quite nice in the evening compared to the daytime. We came before lunch, so there was hardly anyone there yet. Anyways, would I recommend this coffee shop?...
Read moreNew Coffee shop around kramat sentiong at central jakarta. Closed kitchen for 35 minutes so i cannot order any food. i've been waiting for 40 minutes for the drinks. I brought food and drinks from other store because i cant wait any longer for my drinks to arrived. I also can't bare my GERD because the drink took so long. after a while one barista looking guy told us that we can't bring food from the outside. But the cliche is we wait so so long for the drinks and we can't order food because the kitchen are closed. He also told us that the kitchen are now open. Now im asking back, is it ethical for asking customer to queue once more for 15-25 minutes just to order a food? The diction that barista using to tell us is also very wrong. Instead of educating us, he tried to criticize us personally for bringin food from the outside. He also expect us to know that the kitchen are open now, but the funny thing is there is no communication and bridge between the management and customer so the customer know that kitchen are now open and i can order food...
