A culinary gem in Jakarta serving halal Chinese cuisine, Sulaiman offers a wide array of seafood, mutton-based dishes, and many more. Most of the menu is made for sharing, so I would advise coming here along with friends or family. The price point is a bit steep, but it was well worth the portion size as well as the authentic taste of the food.
On this occasion, I ordered these dishes to share between three people:
Sup Ikan Asam Pedas (Suan Cai Yu - 228k) Sate Daging Kambing (Yang Rou Chuan - 18.8k/stick) Sayur Tiga Serangkai (Disanxian - 118k) Mapo Tofu (98k)
Everything was amazing! They absolutely did not skimp on the spices, which made every bite a pleasant experience. My favorite has to go to their Yang Rou Chuan, which had perfectly succulent beef that was seasoned really well. Their Mapo Tofu was a winner too, especially when paired with warm rice to soak up all the goodness from the sauce.
The place itself has two floors of dining area and is tastefully decorated. Also, the service was fine, and I appreciated how knowledgeable the staff was about the menu. If you're feeling overwhelmed when trying to choose your order, just ask them for a recommendation.
All in all, highly recommended if you're looking to taste authentic...
Read moreOne of the few place for authentic Xinjiang food in Jakarta. We tried the lamb satay. It was out of this world. Super good. Very authentic like in Xinjiang (yes, i've been there so I can objectively compare). We also tried the bread. It wasn't really the same like in China or Xinjiang. But it was still taste good and good pairing with the lamb satay. Last on our menu was the Da Ban Ji. It was a noddle dish with chicken in mala sauce. But since we came for the lamb meat experience, the waitress courtesly asked whether we want to change the meat from chicken to lamb. It was so great they managed to this kind of personalization. We appreciated it very very much. Funny experience happened when we sat near the live seafood tank. The owner was trying to catch some prawns and made out big splashes that hit my hair a little bit. The owner came to us directly to apologize even though it just, i must reinstated, very tiny splashes. This show courtesy and a plus point despite of the incident that had happened. There are so much food in the menu that i think we will come back sooner than...
Read moreThis is a Chinese restaurant with Muslim-style cuisine, offering a variety of lamb dishes such as grilled lamb skewers, lamb stew, and other traditional mutton-based meals, along with some seafood options. The cooking style is inspired by northwestern Chinese Muslim regions like Xi’an or Xinjiang.
The interior features traditional Chinese décor—slightly dated but still cozy—with both sofa seating and standard tables. Wi-Fi is available. I’d rate the ambiance around 3.5 to 4 stars.
The food is flavorful and representative of Muslim-style Chinese cuisine, worth 3.5 to 4 stars for taste. However, the prices are relatively high (common for Chinese food in Indonesia), so the ingredient value is around 3 stars. The restaurant accepts Apple Pay and VISA, adding to its convenience.
Overall, it’s a good option if you're looking to try authentic Muslim-style Chinese food and are comfortable with the slightly...
