Most disappointing experience at a Sushi Hiro outlet, which I hope my experience can be a good learning point for future improvements. I don't usually write if there is nothing good to say, but I believe this is important for the management or the Group itself.
I am one of many who trusts Sushi Hiro as a restaurant that I can rely on whenever I want to bring someone or a group to eat out and have Sushi/Japanese food. The food is usually great, place is comfortable and service is good, which are reasons why we chose Sushi Hiro as our dining choice.
However, this time at this outlet, which is not my first time either, I can say that only the food is still good or as per Hiro standard. The service is slower, some staffs are less responsive and kind of out-of-zone, and the place is hot, which have been stated numerous times in reviews.
Now, I get that some staffs are trainees and the place is full, but that's the same thing I'd like to highlight. It is one of the peak seasons during the year, and historically, the outlet had always been full during certain times of the day, so maybe have a roster of more experienced staffs ready. If the trainees really need the "on-hand" live training, maybe have a more experienced staff guide them to the table, or have them introduce themselves as trainees to guests so people do not put high expectations of them.
Simple gestures like that, or checking the bill for outstanding menu items not yet served while making rounds, go a long way, and such small gestures will not make me or other guests leave our seats and ask management or other servers about our dishes that have not yet been served. There were numerous times I had to ask repeatedly before I heard any form of assurance, and that is from management. When a simple green tea is served 10+minutes since order placed and additional orders came before the original ones, there is some issue with the flow. I'm pretty sure management know about handling these issues better than I do, but feel free to reach out for more details.
From my perspective, newcomers or first-timers will find my experience a big red flag and will make the entire Sushi Hiro brand a No-Go, which should not have been the case, because we have dined at Sushi Hiro multiple times and this is the first time that we have been so disappointed that we would have to reconsider our options next time when bringing a group.

Read morefood: the sushi was fresh, salmon was fresh, they were great. amazing, even. the gyoza's skin wasn't crispy (a bummer) but the flavor is all right. oyakodon was as expected, although a little too sweet for my liking. adding the soy sauce helped balance it out. (but oyakodon is meant to be sweet and salty, so for those who enjoy a subtle and sweeter flavour profile, it should be fine.)
location: lots of natural lighting. it makes the place somewhat warm during the hottest points of the day, but not sweltering. lovely decor, very pleasing to the eyes. toilet location was a little confusing and the placement felt a little odd, but it doesn't put me against coming back here at all. i recommend paying more frequent attention to the bathroom though, there was a lingering scent of ammonia which wasn't very pleasant.
service: good. the staff were friendly and helpful, and were responsive to inquiries. i'd rank them the second best service out of all the sushi restaurants at this price point. best one i had was in bali, though, so it's not exactly comparable if we're sticking to a city-wide scale and not country-wide. keep up the good work...
Read moreVisited this place on saturday before the rush hour. The interior was superb, the view is good and also theres alot of natural light when you came on daylight. Toilet is clean AF. Thry also have vip seats face to the sea but for me who doesnt like the PIK humidity, i will not recommended it because its extremely hot out there. But i really dont get it when i ordered the food, the waiter already repeated but then some of the food is not inputed while we wait for more than half hour until we asked our ordered and other staff just simply said i wasnt ordered it. I mean it should be on the sop to let the customer if all the order already came through isnt? Plus i dont know why, its not that busy but i ask for more cutteleries to 3 waitress but they didnt bring it to us untill we asked the guy which i think the captain or supervisor and he bring it straight away. its okay. But then we asked the bill to pay. We have to call 4 different people until i decided to go to the cashier myself to pay it.
Overall i really enjoy the meal but please management have to look this issue not as a negativity but for better services...
