We had high hopes for this place, especially given the positive reputation — and to be fair, the staff were genuinely polite, attentive, and tried their best under the circumstances, which is the main reason this isn’t a 1-star review.
Unfortunately, the food experience left a lot to be desired. We ordered a wide selection of starters — the octopus ceviche and oysters stood out and were genuinely enjoyable. However, the tuna and beef tartare lacked seasoning and flavour, which was disappointing for such classic dishes.
The real issue came with the main courses. Four of us ordered the 9MB steak with various sides, but all of the steaks arrived completely cold — not lukewarm, but noticeably cold. When we raised this, the explanation given was that “medium rare steaks are meant to be cooler,” which felt more like a deflection than a genuine response. Eventually, the team agreed to remake the steaks and sides, but even then, three of the replacements were still cold/lukewarm. One of the guests ordered a medium well done steak, but was given a steak cooked rare, further delaying the meal. On top of that, the sauces — which are meant to accompany the steaks — arrived 5–10 minutes after the steak was served, by which point the flow of the meal was lost.
Some sides were also cold or inconsistent in texture. The truffle mash, for example, came out lukewarm, and the truffle fries were underwhelming — clearly frozen, clumped together, and lacking flavour. For a dish that should be a safe bet, that was a surprise.
What really let the evening down was the timing and coordination from the kitchen. Despite the staff doing what they could, our table of seven ended up eating in shifts, with food arriving at staggered intervals and little sense of cohesion. It completely disrupted the experience and atmosphere of what should have been a relaxed dinner.
The service was kind and professional throughout, but the kitchen and management clearly have issues with timing and quality control. Easily our worst meal in Bali, would...

Read moreWe chose Akasa for our wedding dinner due to the elaborate and well thought out menu. Which did not disappoint!! We were greeted warmly by all staff from the start to end of the night. When sat at our table, we were given complimentary coconut, berry & lime drinks as well as freshly steamed bao buns with herbed butter and prawn crunch. We were then given a selection of menus and plenty of time to look them over. We had the head chef (Joan) come to our table to welcome us and help make our selections. We decided to order-
Entree: Chicken Kaarage- the chicken was juicy and crispy, the sauce had some spice but wasn’t over powering and accompanied the chicken perfectly Beef Wagyu Salad- Very tasty, fragrant and light
Main: Truffle tenderloin- so well balanced! The beef was perfectly cooked and the sweetness of the pear just made the dish amazing! Grilled tiger prawn- the sauce was light, fluffy and aerated, the prawns were soft, cooked to perfection and full of flavour
Desert: Chocolate sphere- this was a decedent and delicious desert, the acidity from the berries made it delicious Surprise wedding gift: Mango cream tart- unsure if this tart is even on the menu, but it 100% should be, it was the best desert we have ever had! Everything about the tart was to die for.
Drinks: The first king- so well balanced, we could definitely have had a few too many, the papaya and cinnamon was an amazing touch. Maluku sour- perfect egg white and awesome flavour
Last notes: We couldn’t be happier with our experience from the staff specifically- Mardika and Christian they were both more than accomodating and so helpful, polite and well spoken.
