I've given 3 stars based on overall experience. The environment and service were fine, but the food wasn't & dragged the average down. The fish dish didn't smell or taste particularly fresh, nor did it look appetizing. The braised beef dish had good flavour but wasn't braised for long enough & the beef was tough - I ate only two small pieces, the larger pieces were too chewy. The hot and sour soup met that criteria but it wasn't particularly flavorsome. By combining some fish, a little rice and some vegetables from the braised beef dish, I managed to make something I could eat, but it's not good enough for the cost, over IDR 1.1 million. About 50% of the food was left behind & we weren't 'full' by any means. If it was 'the best Chinese food in Bali', Balinese Chinese restaurants would be in trouble, but luckily I know it's not - I've had much better quality...
Read more9 months back from our Bali trip and until now I still can't forget the amazing Chinese food we had at this Chinese restaurant within Ayana Resort. The restaurant decor was pretty simple but don't let it fool you, the food here certainly stood out as among the best Chinese meals I've had, and this is coming from someone who grew up in Asia and visited China, Taiwan, HK, Macau etc. Remember we ordered a stewed beef with turnip in pot which was cooked so fragrantly with aromatic Chinese herbs, and I don't know how they could cook a plate of simple vegetable dishes so crispy and fresh. We spent 2 weeks in Bali, tried several of the popular or trendy restaurants and this last meal we had at Ah Yat before our flight out was by far our best meal in Bali. Now we just need to come back for their famous...

You come here for two reasons:
probably the best dim sum in Bali. Also affordable, about 45k per dish. There is also a dim sum buffet (order from menu) at like 240k, but not worth it unless you are really hungry
you want live seafood, cooked Asian style. Good selection, from crabs to prawns to lobster, sea mantis, and grouper fish. And compared to cheaper places on the island (eg Warung Laota) the prices are actually the same or just slightly higher, for a much better dining environment.
Why the 4 out of 5 stars? It is still a pretty pricey meal at the end of the day, for Bali. If you're not fussed with (1) or (2) you can get higher quality meals for cheaper...
