I guess you have to have low expectations when it comes to cafes in Bali. And this place is just as disappointing as most cheap food cafes in Bali. Not sure who writes these 5 star reviews - probably people who have never had proper Ramen in Japan 🤷♂️ Where do I start? No wi-fi, despite being in the middle of the most tourist-oriented area. They have ran out of the 2 rice dishes on the menu (mind you I did come in pretty late in the day, so probably can’t blame the place for being popular 😀). I had chicken ramen with original soup base. Yeah, ramen should not be based on a beef soup, but I guess this is a halal place. Still - if you like proper Japanese Ramen, rather than an interpretation - this is not the place for you. The beef and chicken yakitori were ok, but nothing spectacular and tiny (probably more suitable for a child than a grown adult, but they were only 20k or about that each, so what can you expect 🤷♂️). Also the waitress who came in to torch the ramen was wearing a plastic glove on one hand, which she used for the gas torch and then used the same hand to take the nori and put it in my ramen (at least she was wearing a glove 😂- I guess you can’t really teach Indonesians proper food hygiene, no matter what). The cheap bamboo chopsticks would also not be my choice of cutlery. The place itself appears to be clean by Indonesian standards and is OK for a quick bite on the go. Overall, a passable place if you are in a pinch, but not if you want a proper Japanese ramen or Japanese food - for that I suspect you have to go outside of Bali. Oh, and if you want to pay by card - good luck...
Read moreFound this gem on Google maps while searching for Halal foods. Parking for bikes and cars are easily accessible. When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff and owner. We were given appetizers and a tea that changes daily.
There are 4 broth selections and 3 different proteins (oysters, saikoro, and chicken). The oysters weren't available that day due to the season not being so good. They promise to serve only high quality ingridients.
We went for the double flavour broth and the light broth. Both had a lot of flavour, but they leaned towards a little too salty for my taste. We ordered the beef and it was so tendeeerrr and juicy. It had a good grill taste. The ramen came with ocha too and for the price, it's slightly cheaper than other shops. For condiments, i would recommend providing chili oil instead.
Gyoza was a little oily but burst with flavour. It was savory, and delicious.
We were the only ones in the shop so it felt so private and the service was 10/10. It felt like they are really passionate about food. I want to come back and try their oysters when available. Will definitely come again...
Read moreVery delicious halal ramen and topnotch service. Very friendly owner and staff. We got welcoming drink (sweet tea) and complimentary mashed potato while we waited for our order to come.
The finishing touch of the food was "performed" in front of customers with blowtorch. We ate the chicken ramen and saikoro ramen, both are good imho but the saikoro is superior to my taste 😆 original and double flavor soup both are nice. Double flavor is surprisingly not overwhelming, still very enjoyable until the last drop. The ramen is also served with bamboo shoot (筍/ rebung) and I really like it! They have a special chili sambal if you like it spicy, and it compliments the ramen broth very nicely. We tried the strawberry mochi ice cream for dessert and it was good! The mochi is fluffy and soft. There are outdoor and indoor area. Will be back again ❤️
P.s. tenchou, please install a lock on the bathroom...
