Ayam Betutu Ibu Mira Dewi Sri — Restaurant in Kuta

My experience eating a malnourished chicken that can apparently serve 4 people was enjoyable at the time. Aku suka pedas but that sauce was insanity. The sauce was so spicy and my partner ignorantly poured it on the rice. However I wouldn't blame the restaurant for that. What I would blame them for is the 'Bali belly' I got the next day. Having eaten in many places in Bali I was feeling encouraged that I never got sick. But alas, Ibu Mira's curse had struck me and I was left bed bound during my penultimate day in Bali. I'll look back on my experience here with a bitter sweet outtake. It was fun at the time but I suffered greatly for it. While it was all fun and games I cannot look past how I felt after eating that food and it is with regret I will leave a 1 star. Good luck ibu mira and please wash your food properly...

Photos are of the Paket 1/4 Ayam Betutu Goreng. Everything was superb and the sambal matah sauce is a must try. It’s the classic Balinese version of the Indonesian sambal sauce. The sambal terasi is more a Java thing. There’s a bit of heat here but remove the sambal matah and you’re effectively destroying the ayam betutu and you might as well stay home in Australia or wherever with your KFC.

Throw in a drink and the damage is surprisingly reasonable for a meal of this quality. Don’t leave Bali without trying ayam betutu and this restaurant is an ideal restaurant for...

So what I learned is that this dish can be really fiery! Still, we enjoyed the dish. Just that if you're not good at fiery food, make sure you order extra drinks to help you out. They've this tea which goes well. You can have it sweet (teh manis) or without sugar (teh tawar). A word of caution, the sambal that comes with the blanched vegetables is superb spicy!
