As a warning to other people with allergens please avoid Baker's Bistro. I was violently ill after eating a gluten dish that was marked as gluten free on the menu. On confronting the staff the next day, they advised they decided to change the GF dish and “try new ingredients” (with gluten). The chef should be fired immediately for this breach. Baker's Bistro should also consider itself lucky that I didn't have a peanut allergy and you gave me peanuts and killed me. There has been many cases documented in Australia and the world over where a peanut allergy person has eaten a restaurant meal that said peanut free and it wasn't peanut free and they died. So you need to accept that this is a serious incident and the One Star review needs to stand as a warning to people with allergens. Note, the food, the staff, and the environment are great and of excellent standard if you do not have an allergen. Perhaps the restaurant needs to abandon its allergen dishes and simply stick to meals where it doesn’t have to worry about allergens. Allergens are a serious matter when it...
Read moreMy meal, Tiger Prawn Pappardelle Pasta, was quite tasty and adequate, whereas my wife's Pad Thai was a major disappointment. The rice noodles were akin to a bunch of rubber bands, knotted together. When I mentioned this to our waitress she offered up the explanation that the noodles were "gluten free". Being rice noodles this would almost certainly have been the case, but it doesn't warrant them being a gluggy mess.
I noticed that our waitress mentioned our displeasure to her manager, who (apparently) simply dismissed it.
When another one of the wait staff came to our table for us to pay our bill, he inquired as to how our meal had been, so I also told him that my wife's meal was "tidak bagus". He offered up the explanation "That's how Pad Thai is". Well, "NO, IT ISN'T"!
And as for the chicken, it was as dry as a dead dingo's donger.
Very disappointed with one of the two meals, along with the 'Oh well!' response to our remarks.
50/50. Won't be...
Read moreI have to edit my original 5 stars review after such a disappointing dinner. We come here often for coffee breaks and this one time decided to have dinner.
Unfortunately, the fish and chips were not crispy at all. Had to peel off the batter and finish off the rubbery fish. Chicken Parmi was under seasoned. Ramen was oily, no chilli powder nor chilli flakes available....I don't think sauce sambal would compliment Ramen very well... also what's with serving dine in customers' condiments in takeaway plastic cups?
Staff were kind but never asked how the meal was and somehow they looked kinda frazzled.
Never liked writing bad reviews but we rarely eat out for dinner and this happened. Prices are above average so we expected a better quality of service and food. We should have just stuck to...
