A little confused about how what is served here is different from what is advertised on the menu.. It would probably bug fussy eaters, but I was ok with it.
An affordable breakfast item, the Big Breakfast (65K++ IDR), comes with a good variety of food on the plate. 2 eggs of any style (I opted for poached), 2 small beef/chicken sausage (beef ftw), mushrooms & spinach, 2 slices of sourdough bread, & baked beans - which they replaced with a salad without telling me.... But ok. Lettuce salad is fine.
I was quite pleased with this. Service is friendly & I was asked if I needed salt or pepper - I declined, because this was flavourful enough for me. The saltiness of the sausage went well with the simplicity of the poached eggs on thinly sliced toast. Nicely executed.
It rained just as I was about to leave, so I ordered something else to eat. Organic Granola (40K++ IDR) was my choice & mmm this was good too. I asked for maple syrup on the side but they forgot though š
This is almost like how I used to prepare my oats every morning: Raw oats, raisins, cashews, pumpkin seeds & sliced fruits. The difference is - the menu said it'd be served on yogurt... But it's actually turned out to be milk? Still delicious though. & more filling than I expected it to be. Oats ftw! š

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI found this place by accident when I was looking for a place to work after having lunch near the area and to my surprise, I am really glad that I found this place that day. The coffee was absolutely amazing. They learned a lot on how the coffee culture expanded its history on Australia so they really know what they are doing. I ordered flat white, and since 1 cup is not enough, another cup of magic that they recommend. The owner and the barista were really kind and friendly. The place was small yet really comfy and homey. I stayed there for the next few hours and we chatted a lot. I will definitely visit Whale and Co again every time I visit Bali.
I am sorry that I forgot the name of the owner and the barista but if you folks are reading this review, tell me so I can address you properly next time. This is Joshua, the one that was from Bandung but also stayed at Bali on his childhood. I hope you folks still remember me hahaha.
Be well and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice atmosphere and good wifi but the coffee was terrible. No soy milk available and the long blacks were served with separate hot water full of dodgy floaties.
The espresso was horrendous. I guess weāre just used to great coffee in New Zealand, but itās not hard to draw an espresso properly. One long black was under extracted and salty and lacking any sweetness, the other was so over extracted and so sour my face went like Iād eaten a lemon.
We couldnāt finish the first few sips past trying to taste the coffee.
If youāre after coffee, do not bother. If you want a nice work space for you and your laptop and youāre going to drink tea or bottled...
