Kogu Café — Restaurant in Malang

Such a lovely spot! The ambiance was really nice—everything’s painted in blue and white, and since I love blue, I was totally into it!

There were quite a lot of staff, so the service was pretty quick. They explained clearly that drinks are self-service, while food will be brought to your table. I ordered an Americano and a crispy enoki (I forgot the exact name, but yep—it was enoki and crispy!). I also had a sip of my friend’s matcha latte (again, not sure of the exact name, sorry!).

The coffee beans seemed to be arabica, so the taste leaned more acidic than bitter. As for the matcha, it's definitely not ceremonial grade (no umami), but it was real matcha and served nicely. The drinks weren’t really my thing, but I seriously loved the enoki crispy. It would be so good with a bowl of warm white rice... Definitely coming back to try more food on the menu!

There were plenty of seats, mostly indoors. The indoor area has two sections—one with a roof, and one semi-open. There's also a long table with single chairs, which I thought was a nice touch.

This place is great for dates or casual hangouts. Not the best for working from a cafe, though—it’s a bit noisy and power outlets are limited.

Overall, I’m really happy I stopped by. No regrets before heading back to...

A coffee shop that has a unique concept in Malang is different from other coffee shops. It gets an 8/10 for ambiance because it's cute and unique. There are also quite a lot of seats provided, but the place is not too wide for a coffee shop because it is located in a residential area. It looks like this coffee shop is only suitable for chatting with friends and not for doing assignments because the place is quite noisy and crowded, so it's not comfortable if you need a place that's not noisy. For food and drink, I give a rating of 9/10 because it is delicious and unique, and the price is cheap. Various kinds of drinks and food are provided here. From snacks to heavy meals, and in my opinion, all the menus don't fail because they match their appearance with what is on the menu. I recently visited Kogu Cafe and was immediately impressed by the indoor area. The room is cozy, clean, and very cool! I'd highly recommend wearing warm clothes if you plan to stay and work for an extended period inside.

I ordered the iced chocolate, and it was delicious—a great choice for a refreshing drink.

One thing to note about the seating is that there are more outdoor seats than indoor ones. If you plan on working and need to charge your devices, be aware that there are few power outlets in the indoor area, so you might need to find a specific seat or share with others.

What really stood out to me was their policy on smoking. They strictly prohibit smoking and vaping in the indoor area. If you want to smoke or vape, they politely direct you to sit outside, which I appreciated as it keeps the indoor space pleasant and fresh...
