Pork & Barrel — Restaurant in Malang

Goodbye Pork and Barrel.

I gave it 5 stars in the past and now they are falling down like a shooting star. It WAS one of the most satisfying places for hanging out with beer or good coffee but lately becoming pretty trashy.

In the past, we were escorted to the seats and waiters kindly waitd for our order. Now...we have to pay first before ordering anything. Yes, 100K rupiah is a minimum spend, otherwise you make your way 7-floor down to the parking lot.

The hideous thing is, when I asked some of the workers about when that pay-in-advanced system started, they gave me different answers. One said it was last year, another said long ago, the other said it started in the beginning of covid-19 pandemic. First, this place was closed when covid first arrived. There's no way the management made such a cruel system in that harsh time. Second, it was only 2 months ago I visited pork and barrel and everything's still the same. And I believe I was in good mental health. Last, the workers looked pretending that it was true. Their face were fixed forward, their voice overstressed the answer and their shoulders looked tensed.

I came with my 3 friends, so we paid 400 thousands in prior. We order easy drinks and some snacks as openers. We had to wait 20 minutes for the drinks to come, 30 minutes for a calamary to reach the table, 50 minutes for a french fries to finally show up. And to make things worse, since we still had 120000 to spent, we ordered fried casava and some more calamary for another 60 minutes. I was so lucky not to order havier meal.

The management has to be acquainted with what so called better work design. Maybe the workers have given the best they can, but predetermined procedures just don't work. And they need to reconsider the pay-in-advanced thing.

I wish I could give a half star...

I was visit this place twice this sept while i am in malang for my holiday. On the first visit i was ok with the food and the taste but the services of the staff very slow and i am waiting the main order of the pork crispy more than1 hour until all dishes finished and this order not come until we remain it twice then finally they bring it to the table. Since on that night is saturday and the customers was quit crawd i can consider the service was late. And on the next day i visit this place again to have dinner with my family and again the services very slow event worst. Again i am waiting the main order almost 1 and half hours and until all other dishes finished the main order of pork crispy premium not come. We have remain and asking the staff until three time but their respond looks so easy and always asking us to wait and wait. Finally since it is too long then we cancelled this order and we left the place and until we leave no one of staff or their manager say sorry or appogized for this issue. They just ok and looks this is something ussual for the customers. We will not come to this...
