Riche Heritage Hotel — Hotel in Malang

Rarely have I stayed at a hotel and been so disappointed in it. We checked in to the room and immediately smelled a bad smell. We didn’t have to look too far to see that the wall next to the window and sink was black with mould. We were only here for three days and I thought it would be alright as we spend little time in the room. We unpacked and while doing so saw three large ants, one in the bed. That did it. We asked for a different room and told them we would pay more for an upgrade. There was a language barrier and we could not convey to them our issues or that we were more then willing to pay more. We tried Google translator but that didn’t help. We moved to the room next to us and it was a bit better but the smell was still there and the bed was horrible. We were going to put up with it but when we tried the wifi we could not get it working and when we did it kept cutting out. At that point we decided we would rather loose our money and enjoy our visit to Malang and stay at a better hotel. We have never left a hotel before but realize a clean healthy room is...

Hotel Riche is always my chosen hotel when I visit Malang. Aside from its convenient location at the heart of Malang City (near alun-alun, Jami’ Mosque, Protestant Church, Catholic Church, Toko “Oen”, Sarinah Dept Store, and Gramedia book store), there are a lot of public transport that will take you to your destination from Hotel Riche. Hotel Riche is a nostalgic hotel for me, from the deepest of my heart. My memories go back to when I was in highschool in the 60s , I often did my school revisions with my best friend who at the time was living in Hotel Riche as a long-stay hotel guest, then Hotel Riche was already standing in the midst of sleepy Malang city that was not as busy as it is nowadays. So, why do I always choose Hotel Riche as my favourite hotel? I feel comfortable, at ease, and like I’m with family, the staff are friendly and I can feel nostalgic. When I recall the memory of this hotel, all I could remember was the ants in my room.|There were ants in my room but i wasn't sure where it came from.||The price of this hotel is very affordable!||The location of this hotel is very convenient! (Google map it) it's close by to every where.||The reception was sort of outdoor. Haha||The room was small and sort of like kos-kos an or homestay. I love the blanket they provide us with! Batik blanket very soft too. I even asked em where they bought theirs. If they sell it I probably would buy it because I couldnt find it any where.||Breakfast, very limited option, taste was so so.
